When did you stop babying your incision?

I still find myself drying it with the hair dryer and putting gauze over it to keep it dry. I definitely still have the flap of skin that hangs over it, and it just recently (last week) finally looks like it closed all up and everything. Before then there were one or two little spots that were still oozing discharge. So when did you just stop doing anything to it and let it be? I guess I just got in the habit of drying it and doing everything else...

    well I didn't have the oozing and open incision, but I had a terrible hematoma that formed under my incision into my vaginal area...I got terribly swollen and purple...totally a mess.

    I stopped babying it around 2-3 months post partum, but my hematoma took a month to get better.

    I healed really fast so, honestly, three weeks? And even up until then, I just tried to be careful not to exert myself or scrub it too hard in the shower. Once they took the gauze off in the hospital, I never used any more ever again and I had the steri-strips off by the end of the first week. Like I said, though, I had a really fast recovery. I realize that isn't the norm.

    as soon as they took the steristrips off two weeks later. it was healing well so i just washed and dried as normal
