For those of you who are BFing and suspect an intolerance to a food, how do you do your elimination diets? I have cut dairy, but now am thinking of soy and wheat. If you cut those out... what do you eat???? I have looked at the grocery store, and can't find much beyond straight fruits/veggies and chicken stock that doesn't contain one of those three. Or, do you go to a formula if you suspect that this is an issue. Just not sure where to start. Are there any websites out there with recipes for such diets?
TIA!
Re: BFing and intolerance
Cut out soy first. I believe up to 50% of babies with dairy intolerance are also allergic to soy. I cut out all sorts of things, but LO's poop didn't get better until I cut out soy. I added back everything else (except dairy of course) and DS is now fine.
That said, I'm currently breaking the bank at Whole Foods every week. It's the only place I've been that lists allergens on every box of food in the store so I don't have to spend gobs of time reading ingredient lists.
If you decide to do the Total Elimination Diet, you can google total elimination diet recipes. I did that and it was pointless since it just ended up being dairy and soy, but I did find some good recipes that I still use (and dropped a ton of weight, ha). Quinoa pasta is a really good replacement for wheat pasta. Good luck.
