Who has a nanny? What is your situation? What do you pay them? Room and board included? What are their responsibilities? Where do you live so I can account for cost of living.... We have a nanny right now and I want to make sure I'm being fair... but there are some things I want to address and DH and I don't see eye to eye.
Example:
Do they refresh the diaper genie?
Do they wash LO's bottles?
Change baby?
Clean up after themselves?
Care for pets?
Anything else?
Re: Nannies?
Cant answer your question, would love to have a maid though!
Just have to say LOVE your siggy! look at that beautiful head of hair!:)
I don't have a nanny but I have been a nanny if that helps. I made $5 an hour. Live out. In California.
I did all that and more..
All child care.
Families laundry.
Dishes,
Made dinner for the family.
and cleaned in my spare time (bathrooms, kitchen floor, bedrooms, etc.)
We have a nanny. We pay $400 a week. She works 8-5. She changes diapers cleans bottles plays with DS and takes him for walks when it's nice. She is teaching the language as well. We want her main focus to be DS not cleaning my apt.
We share a nanny with another family in the Washington DC metro area. We each pay her $9.85/hour for a total of 40 hours a week, so she makes about $19.70 an hour total for two LOs. She does NOT live-in. She washes the girls laundry (mostly just the host families but also anything of of ours that needs to be cleaned as well), keeps all the toys clean, vaccums the playroom where the girls are most of the day, gives the girls baths if we want her to, and in general plays developmental games with them and takes them on walks. She has offered to cook dinner for us as well and once the girls start eating solids she will prepare it. We also give her two weeks of vacation, one week of her choosing and one of ours, and 5 sick days. We pay her whether we need her or not.
Do they refresh the diaper genie? YES
Do they wash LO's bottles? YES
Change baby? YES
Clean up after themselves? YES
Care for pets? She lets the dog out if he needs to go
We have a nanny.
He (yes a he) lives with us. He is an old friend from college and has been with us for over a year now. We pay his room and board and $600/mo in Tulsa, OK. (When it was just DS, we only paid $400/mo.)
He is only on duty if one of us is not home and we let him cart the kids where ever he needs to during the day. He is set up on their pediatrician accounts so that he can access and add to their medical info if needed, but we haven't asked him to take the kids to an appointment solo, yet.
He does not do the diaper champ, does wash bottles if there are not any clean (but I usually try to leave as many clean as possible so he doesn't have to), changes DD and helps with DS's potty training, cleans up after himself, but does not usually do the dishes, just rinses them out. (We do dishes nightly right after dinner.) He does take care of any dog needs throughout the day.
He is currently working on a 'curriculum' for DS, but they do crafts, letters/numbers, sign language, Duplo's, and outside play. If the kids are asleep, I don't have a problem with him taking the monitor into his room and taking a nap too. If DS has an accident while taking a nap, he will usually start the laundry and remake the bed for him. I can't think of anything else off of the top of my head...
