So the plan is for me to breastfeed our LO once he is born. We are having a circumcision done and the doc has recommended giving him a pacifier to soothe him during this procedure.
Any moms out there have this experience and was there any 'nipple confusion'?
We will be bottle feeding breastmilk as well probably starting around week 4, just so DH can help out as well as there will be times around week 6 and then when I go back to work when I will need to be away from LO for a few hours and want him to be able to be fed if needed.
This was also posted on 3rd tri board.
TIA!
Re: XP: Breastfeeding and pacifiers
All of my kids had pacifiers starting in the hospital and I nursed all of them.
The nurses in the NICU also told me there is no such thing as nipple confusion... don't know if that's true but they all thought it gets a lot of hype for nothing.
I was nervous about pacis, but they gave DD one when she was two days old so that she'd be calm for her hearing test, and there were no problems. I think if your latch is good, its not a big issue, and even if latch isn't great, one time isn't going to do anything.
Thanks! That is awesome, cause I totally believe in the pacifier and was a little concerned it could cause a problem with bfing even if we get off to a good start!
Thanks Ladies!
