Weird hand shaking

So my son has just started holding his arms straight out and shaking his hands and wrists whenever he gets happy or excited.  When I get him up from a nap or when he sees his bottle.  My mother-in-law says my husband used to do the same thing when he was a baby, but to me it seems a little "spastic" and kind of makes me nervous. 

As an adult my husband still has nervous ticks, so maybe that is hereditary.  My son literally is a mini DH so maybe that's all it is.  Just wondering if anyone else's LO does something like this?

    Yup My DS does it as well for the same things yours does! I think it's just their way of showing excitement.

    I'm pretty sure it's normal. DS sticks his hands straight out, clasps and unclasps his hands like a maniac, and does a full body shake with his mouth wide open. It's the funniest thing ever.

    I make fun of Isaac -- he does the same thing. He looks like a dancing Persian (my sister's in laws all dance like that with the wrist movements).

    My DS does this when he is excited...I was nervous about it until I realized it was when he saw me  ( which melts my heart), or saw a bottle :)

    Yes!  My DS seems to do this when he is excited about something!  He always does this when his bottle or food is involved...He is a hungry little man!

    Hahaha! We call it "Spirit fingers" or the "Baby Jig" because he kicks his feet frantically too.
