Sudden knee issues

Pre-baby I worked out a good amount but I wasn't a runner, just heavy yoga, sports, some jogging, etc.  DS is 8 months old and I've been walking like a mile a day since 10weeks PP.  About 2 months ago, I upped the pace and distance (TONS of huge hills) and tried to always walk pretty quickly.  Last week, I went from walking outside to walking on a treadmill and adding a couple minutes of jogging with 2 scattered minutes of running, every other day.  I do this for 30 minutes, so like 1.5 miles (I'm pretty out of shape now).  I've had some pretty uncomfortable knee pain in my right knee since my second workout on the treadmill.  Also, lunges and squats majorly flare it up.  Any idea what this could be?  Any remedies so I can continue to workout and keep up my cardio?

Thanks for reading =)

Re: Sudden knee issues

  • When was the last time you replaced your shoes?  When it's time for me to get new shoes, I can feel it in my knees and shins.  Also, be mindful of your form, while doing squats and lunges.  Make sure your knee is not going over your toe.  You could also try running/walking on different surfaces like grass.  A softer surface might help your knees.

  • I just bought new shoes like 12 weeks PP.  I've had my form checked by a friend who's a personal trainer too.  I just don't want to hurt myself.

  • Agree with all PP. When my shoes need replacing I start getting severe shin splint's and knee issues. This is probably the case get some new tennis shoes and see if that's the problem and go from there.
