Hi, ladies. I haven't posted in, well... a loong time. A soon-to-be 2 and 4 yo keep me kinda busy:)
But, I have a question and can't find an answer on dr. google, so I thought maybe someone on here has experienced this. I bf'd both of my boys successfully, each for at least 6 months. So, I'm very familiar with the sensation of a let down reflex. Imagine my surprise when at three times in the past week, I've experienced the sensation, even thought I haven't bf'd in 18 months. Once was when I was holding a 3 month old baby, so, okay, I kind of get it (even though, hello, there's no milk there...), but the other two times it was completely random.
My husband has had a vasectomy, so this isn't an "OMG, Do you think I'm pregnant?" post. I truly don't know why this would be happening, what's causing it, or if I'm just crazy.
Anyone else experience it?
Re: Let down reflex, but not bfing?
I'm glad I read this post actually because I've been experiencing the same thing lately and I thought I was crazy. I haven't bf'd in a year and a half and am not pregnant (trying unsuccessfully at this point) but lately I've been occasionally getting the let down sensation in my "good boob" (the one that always produced more). Nothing comes out, but each time it happens I look down expecting milk to come out because it's so crazy of a feeling. It's just started happening in the last few months also which is weird.
Are you noticing that your breasts are tender also? I feel like the one side that "lets down" is always sore up at the top like it's bruised.
Thank you for posting this!!!! I'm not nuts! YES. More on one side than the other--and I haven't BF'd in about 9-10 months or so (had to cut it short with DS2 unfortunately, which was heartbreaking since I BF'd my first son for 19 months).
I even feel like I'm super full and one night was able to expel some milk! WTF. What is that?????? And I'm definitely NOT pregnant either.
