Baby Names

Our (Short) Boy List

If this LO is a girl, we're naming her Gemma Violet.  MN is for my late grandmother.

We're all over the place on boy names, so here it goes:

Zachary- It has been my fav for a long time, but DH has a client with our same LN whose FN is Zachary, so I don't know how weird that would be.

Leonardo- DH is Italian, but adopted so our LN isn't Italian at all.

Philip/Phillip- I like it but can't decide between one or two l's and I'm worried it would be misspelled.

Joseph- DH's fav.  I like it for a MN, but not a FN.

Orlando- Probably our front runner.  It's Italian, but not overtly.  I also love Shakespeare.  DH likes Orlando Joseph, but I don't know about "O.J." as initials.

Bruce- DH is a HUGE Batman fan... I happen to like the name, so it's on the list.

Levi- No "problems" with this one... just not sure I -love- it.

Henry- DH doesn't like, but has agreed it would be an ok MN.

I'm open to all opinions on these names, suggestions of others, and proposals of FN/MN combinations.  TIA!

Re: Our (Short) Boy List

  • Personally, I love Joseph Henry the most out of those. But, I also like wanting to keep the Italian heritage alive.

  • My favorites are Philip (obviously) and Joseph. :) If you don't want it to be misspelled, go with two L's in Phillip. Just speaking from personal experience: everyone assumes two L's.

    P - 9/2008
    A - 8/2010
    L - 1/2013
    S - 3/2015
  • So no one likes Orlando?  Boo Sad
  • I love Gemma Violet. Just beautiful!

Zachary - I've never been a huge fan of this name.

Leonardo - I like Leo, but not sure how I feel about Leonardo.

Phillip - I love this name, with one L or two Ls.

Joseph - I also love this name.

    Orlando - I like it.

Bruce - Just a boring name to me.

Levi - I adore this name.

Henry - I'm over Henry. I feel like it's so trendy to name a kid Henry right now.

    My naming suggestions:

    Orlando Phillip

    Joseph Zachary

    Phillip Joseph

  • I like Henry Joseph best.

Oh and Gemma Violet is a great name!

    Zachary - great name.

Phillip - my favorite of the list, and the two ll's looks the most natural to me.

Joseph and Henry - you can't go wrong with these classics.

    Zachary Joseph? Phillip Henry?

I am not a huge fan of the other names. Orlando reminds me too much of the city - Shakespeare doesn't come to mind immediately for me. I am with you on Levi - it's a fine name, I've just never been in love with it.

  • I like Orlando a lot! I think of Jones, Bloom, and the Shakespeare character before I think of the city. I also like that it's unusual without being weird.

My other favorites are Zachary (although too popular for me now) and Leonardo.

  • Of course I love Leonardo! (points to siggy) and Leo is a great nn

I also like Joseph but I agree with you, is more like a MN name

The others are ok, except Orlando, I really don't like it

    My vote?

    Leonardo Joseph
