I got the results of my first blood test today...I am pregnant! :) (I knew this because of a home test) but they said my hcg level is 192. I had my LMP feb 25...so I am guessing to be 4-5 weeks. Over the phone they said because my level was 192 that I am 0-3 weeks pregnant? I go back in one week for another bloodtest to see if levels are higher...is this normal? I am so scared..I do not want a miscarriage...I am hoping for the best..any advice or input would make me feel a little but more at ease...anyone??

Re: Results

  • Yes it is normal to have follow up bloodwork. I'm not sure how they can determine how pregnant you are by blood results, and it Is virtually impossible to be 0 weeks pregnant. I don't know what that's about. I suggest you not jump to the conclusion that you are miscarrying, and enjoy your pregnancy.

  • Congrats! I have not gone in for blood work for this pregnancy (yet), nor with my previous which was a cp.  I think its just how your Dr feels about proceeding.  Some Drs wont see patients until 8 weeks, I am going in right before my 6th week.

  • Well I'm trying not to jump to that right away but I guess with my previous loss it makes it hard not to worry. The women on the phone told me that because my hcg level was 192 it meant I was very early in my pregnancy 0-3 weeks which I also thought made no sense. On the due date calculators with my last pregnancy the EDD was correct when I went to the doctor. The EDD is 12/1/12 for this pregnancy which would make me around 5 weeks if that is correct. I am confused and worried. I know it's in gods hands either way and am praying for the best but it's so nerve wrecking wondering what's going on. With my first pregnancy my doctor didn't do any bloodwork until I was 18 weeks along..,which at that point we knew he was a boy and at that same time also found out he had trisomy 18. So this bloodwork stuff is new to me considering my last doctor clearly wasn't doing his job..I'm sure I'm just over reacting/over thinking everything but as a mother to an angel baby it is hard not to worry again.

  • I can definitely relate to how you are feeling...however...I would be thrilled with that number! My RE called this morning with my first beta results at a 23...now that sounds more likely to be low than what you got! I'm confused too...if yours is low, then mine is awful :(

  • They told me my first appointment could be made after I get the next bloodwork results which will be next Tuesday (it can't come fast enough!) they will see me around 9 weeks and that is when we would be able to do genetic testing to make sure baby is healthy.

  • I always ask for a copy of my lab work so I can see the results. My first beta was 52.7 and 3 days later it was 160.3. At that time I was 4 weeks and 3 days, so I was in range per the lab and my OB. For my hospitals lab your beta is on the " normal range" for 4-5 weeks. Granted every place is different but I'll include our hospitals " normal ranges" at bottom. Maybe they Weren't counting the first 2 weeks since your really not "pregnant" for them?!? Anything less than 24.99 is considered indeterminate 3-4 weeks: 9-130 4-5 weeks: 75-2600 5-6 weeks: 850-20800 6-7 weeks: 4000-100000 7-12 weeks: 11500-289000 12-16 weeks: 18300-137000
