So I think back on a prior post of mine, someone mentioned using an OPK as a pg test. Is that even possible? Will OPKs just stay positive after you are pg?
(I have never seen a positive OPK- with DS I had a 55 day cycle with a 6 day luteal phase the cycle I tried doing OPKs and I got so frustrated I told myself I wouldn't do it again, I'd just chart. This time, I have no cycle but am trying to catch the first ovulation after breastfeeding, so I still haven't seen a positive OPK. I'm just wondering if I'm seeing all negative OPKs, then I don't have to test every so often with a pregnancy test and know I'm not pregnant. I'd waste a heck of a lot less money on pg tests that way, I need to go order more Wondfos, I just finished a pack of 25...)
ETA: content that makes sense.
Re: OPK as pg test?
If your pregnant, I believe an OPK would be positive, or at least close to it.

I think it's peeonastick.com, but I read somewhere that you can use an OPK as a pg test but it is NOT recommended. The reason being that LH and HCG are very similar in composition, the only difference being HCG has one small added component. It works just like when testing for ovulation in that it must be as dark or darker than the control line to confirm pregnancy.
I made the grave error of testing with an OPK, as I had heard that somewhere, too, and was really crushed when I read that it must be as dark or darker because I had a faint line. Even if it is positive, it could just be an LH surge. It's really only recommended for people who have already confirmed pg with a pg test.
But if the OPK is negative, does that mean I shouldn't waste a pg test? If I kept getting positive after positive, I'd take a pg test to actually find out if I was pg. But if I'm getting negative after negative OPK, I don't have to even worry about taking a pg test, right?
Bingo.
