US at 9 1/2 weeks-- internal or transducer?

I will have an US at my appt. this week. Just curious-- do you think it will be internal or with the transducer? What have been your experiences?

Our first at 8w5d was internal...I think it really all depends on the u/s tech.

Ours was just with the transducer, but I suppose it depends on what they can see externally, then might go internally for a better look.

Mine was internal. I think the 20 week u/s is the only one I've had so far that hasn't been with the internal wand.

Mine was external at 7 weeks, which surprised me. We got pictures but to be fair, my beautiful child looks rather blob-like

Did they tell you to have a full bladder for the appointment? They did for me, so that might give you a heads-up.

my sig is from my u/s at 10 weeks 2 days. It was a transducer, which surprised me- especially as I am not a thin girl (or even close). The pic is blurry compared to other 10 week shots i saw online, but you can still see the body, head, an arm and a leg

I would say internal. It would be hard to see things clearly so early. The baby is still pretty far down in your pelvis.

I had one at 8 wks that was external. The dr. said it can be based on your build sometimes, too. If you are smaller, it's easier to do an external u/s sooner. I had the internal u/s at 6 weeks. (yes, I had two in two weeks, but we had some concerns) It's not more invasive than a regular pap. Either way it's exciting. Good luck!

I had one yesterday (at 9 weeks 2 days) and it was internal. It was amazing! We were able to hear the heartbeats and see everything. Then the u/s tech did an external to check on something else, but they couldn't see anything. She said it was a good thing they went with the internal. I am very small, so it didn't have anything to do with my build. Good luck!

FYI, it's a transducer whether it's internal or external.

At 8 weeks we had an external u/s. The tech said that they would start with the external and if she couldn't get the pictures she needed, then we would move to internal. She said at that time in the pregnancy it just depends where the baby is located, etc.
