Wow... disappointed in AZ med. board

Today I got a letter from the AZ medical board regarding my complaint against my OB. They determined that she did not engage in "unprofessional conduct".

So I guess it's okay for doctors to treat their patients like crap and hang up on them when they ask too many questions. Nice message you're sending out Medical Board!!

So sorry about that - that sucks. Your doctor was an ass. I agree with PP, go on review websites and rip her apart (anonymously, if possible!). I definitely researched my new doctor through reviews, so it might help other ladies.

That's such CRAP!

I'm you're having to deal with all the stupid crap and I'm sorry you had to deal with that doctor. At least you know that you no longer have to put up with her crap, and I hope she doesn't treat any of her other patients the way she did you!

Sorry you had to deal with her, that's crazy. Anytime I've had a bad experience, whether it's a doctor, resturant, business, etc. I've told people to warn them of the way they treat people. Word of mouth is a common way most businesses lose customers or patients. It sucks, but at least you're able to move on along.

Some websites, yellow pages or white pages, may have where you can submit a review or rating...but that's a lot of work that may cause more aggravation than you've already had to endure.

Well, just know that there is a paper trail now that would corroborate a future incidence of misconduct. And if your x-doc was made aware, she will hopefully be more respectful to avoid further issues.

I'd really be interested to hear the board's reasoning as to why they didn't find the doctor's actions unprofessional. Of course, I know they don't think they have to explain themselves. It's unfortunate this happened and I'm sorry things didn't work out.

That stinks that the AZ med board disagrees. They are crazy!! You didn't deserve to be treated like that. I am sorry your complaint was basically ignored. At least you have word of mouth- that can really do a number on a doctor's reputation!

Well, apparently what she did is not considered "unprofessional" under statute, which, as a lawyer I should have looked up and when I have the energy to do it, I might do. But a large part of me just wants to put this whole mess behind me.

They did say that my complaint would remain with her file, so at least there's that.

Not sure if you did this already but you should maybe look into filing a formal complaint with your insurance company if she is a participating provider- The insurance company I work for takes these very seriously and they are followed up on and we do track them for patterns and we have terminated provider contracts with doctors who had a high number of complaints or serious complaints. Just something to think about.

I know it's disappointing but unfortunately the legal standard for unprofesional conduct is different than what the lay person would consider unprofessional. I work in health care practitioner licensing and our prosecutors here often say, "Unfortunately I can't prosecute a doctor for being an a$$hole." Filing the complaint was the right thing to do though. It creates a record that someone complained about her, so that the next time someone files a complaint the board knows it's not the first time.

I'm sorry about the AZ med board. IMO you should write a letter to your doctor telling her how you feel about her services. While that would not accomplish anything, it might give you closure.

Filing a complaint with the insurance company might be an option. Also, if ever asked to recommend an OB/GYN you can tell people not to go to them because they treated you like sh!!t. You can say this without going into specifics.

However, you probably want to put this whole situation behind you. As much as it sucks, you can never inflict the same amount of pain on your doctor that she did on you. Sometimes the best way to move forward is to let things go.

Someone that acted that unprofessionally to you will most likely (if not already) treat other patients that way too. I'm glad your complaint is staying w/ her file. Hopefully others who are treated that way have the sense to file a complaint themselves.
