i'm confused about this too. diapers smell clean coming out, but god awful when they're wet. there's no bubbles when they're on the rinse, but we're using the EFF CD recipe anyways.
from what i've read, soap buildup causes repelling/leaking. and i thought hot washes were part of stripping, am i wrong? ugh.
You can try changing detergents, stripping, and then rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse!!! That got rid of ammonia smells for me about 8 weeks ago.

When I've stripped, I use a tiny bit of blue Dawn dish soap and then rinse, rinse, rinse in hot, hot water. I've actually added kettles of hot water to the wash to make sure the water was hot enough.

Thanks, I will have to do this because my washer only has warm or cold rinse cycles.
This. I would strip and do a handful of rinses. It should get rid of any smell or repel.

I was experiencing stinkies and I washed with Oxyclean a few times and it got rid of the stinks. I was using CD detergent and I think it wasn't rinsing good enough. Now I switched to econuts so there is no detergent buildup and I haven't had any repelling or stinkies. Maybe that helps??
