Feeling like the worst mother EVER!

FTM here and maybe I'm being too hard on myself but I feel terrible about what I did last night.

My dr. wanted me to start taking 325mg of ferrous sulfate (iron supplement).  I bought the bottle and on the front it said elemental iron 65mg.  So my dumbass took 5 of them!!!  2 hours later when I read the back of the bottle I realized that 65mg of elemental iron equals 325mg of ferrous sulfate. 

After freaking out, calling the on-call dr, the pharmacist, and poision control they all said I should be fine.  Just VERY constipated.  I have to call my Dr. today and let her know what happened.  I feel like such an idiot and worse, a terrible mother already!  I couldn't stop crying last night.  I'm praying so hard that it didn't effect my baby girl. 

Word to the wise, don't just read the fronts of pill bottles...they can be misleading!

    Don't beat yourself up about it...your Dr. will help you get through this and I'm sure you're not the only person to have ever misread the labeling.  If the on call doc, pharmacist and poison control said you are ok, I'm sure you are.  Don't stress, that'll make things more stressful for your baby.  You'll be ok.  ((hugs))

    I'm sorry you had such a scare. I've heard of a few people getting confused with iron supplements. It really is confusing when there is two different numbers on the bottle. You are not the worst mom ever! It was a simple mistake. Take comfort in the fact that the on-call doctor, the pharmacist, and poison control all said you would be fine. I'm sure your baby girl is doing just fine!

    Don't be so hard on yourself!  I would be upset too, but you are not the worst mother in the world.  Mistakes happen.  Glad you will be okay.

    Girl, if the worst thing you do is accidentally take too many harmless pills in an effort to keep you and Baby Piper healthy, then you win an award for Best Mom Ever in my book.  Chin up!

    Thanks for the nice words everyone!  I"m starting to feel a little better:)  Just waiting for my Dr. to call me back now.

    Don't feel bad, one day in early pregnancy I swallowed my progesterone suppository.... instead of putting it where it belongs.  I had a mini freak out that involved calling my OB and pharmacist also.
