3rd Trimester

Baby position- do you know?

At week 32, this baby was head down.  At week 33, she was breech.  I had no idea that she had flipped until I had another US.  (They gave me the additonal US to check my low fluid level).  My fluid level has gone up to a more normal range and I can feel a lot of movement, but I still can't tell if she has flipped back or not. The strongest movements are on my right side.  I imagine the strongest to be her kicks.  Can anyone tell what position your baby is in?  How?

  • Check out the spinning babies website. They have a section on mapping. It might help you figure out where the baby is.

  • My baby's been in the same position for a while, but I can tell where her feet are because I can feel feet.  I can tell where the back is because when she presses up against me, I can feel the long, smooth-ness of it.

  • I have no idea how to tell. I will feel equally hard kicks or punches up high and down low at the same time, or on the left and right sides of my belly at the same time. I feel like kind of an idiot not being able to tell, since so many people seem to be able to tell.Oh well. i guess for me she will still be spinning around a little longer!

  • I have no idea. Dr told me he was head down at the last appointment. I hope he stays that way!

  • Towards the end of your pregnancy your doctor can tell the baby's position by feeling your stomach.  If they suspect that the baby is breech they'll probably send you for an u/s to confirm.

  • I can pretty much tell where he is, since I can feel his feet really well and his kicks stay mostly on my right side and up above my navel. Also a recent u/s confirmed that he is head down waay down in my pelvis and his spine/ butt is on my left side.

  • I cannot tell the difference between hands and feet.  Or the difference between butt and head.  I have an anterior placenta so I don't really feel much at all in the center of my belly.  It's all around the edges.  I am anxious to learn what position baby is as I really have no clue.

The reason I know for sure is I feel hiccups in my butt so I know he is still head down.

So true.  My LO has hiccups right now and I can tell from where I feel them (really low) that LOs head down. When I know he's head down, then I can usually identify his bum and back, but differentiating between hands and feet is impossible for me. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few knees sticking out too. Also, I can sometimes feel LOs head with my hand, but only when I know he's head down (it's like a smooth round ball that you can kind of move back and forth). FWIW, this is my 3rd pregnancy, but my first one where I've been able to identify as much as I (think I) can.

  • My baby has been head down since week 24. I can feel the hardness of his head in my low pubic region (along with pressure, and pressing on nerves and my bladder). He is in a horseshoe position and you can see the outline of his body mass (back). He is on my right side so my right side of my stomach sticks out much more than my left. It's quite funny because I have a lopsided belly.

  • My baby's been head up and mostly facing inward the last month (I'm 36 weeks tomorrow), so I can feel his head and back against my stomach and his feet kicking my bladder/organs.
