severe cramps after iui?

i am three days post iui #2 and was awoken several times last night with SEVERE cramps. i tried to get to the bathroom and just doubled over in pain.

i had nothing like this with iui #1.

anyone else have this experience?

Lincoln - I'm sorry you're experiencing so much pain. I have had some cramping, yes. Sometimes enough to make me grunt and complain out loud to my husband, but nothing that has woke me up or had me doubled over.

Since you've already had an IUI before and not experienced pain like that the first go around, I would call your doctor to see if you can get an U/S to see if you've developed a cyst. There should not be that much pain! If it's really bad, go to the ER! We want you to be safe, and your health is nothing to ignore!! I think with puluga and GenMalone we've learned, there is pain, and then there's "this is really not right".

I cramped pretty much everyday after iui#1, but nothing that made me double over. I agree with PP, this may warrant a trip to the dr. I hope the pain eases up!

After my first IUI I had so much pain I was in and out of sleep all night. After my 2nd and 3rd I had some tenderness but nothing like that first one. I ended up being fine but if you are really worried I would call your doctor. Maybe they can take a look at what's going on in there and give you some reassurance.

My first IUI i was fine but my second IUI I had alot of cramping and pain especially when I had to urinate (this was on Friday) but by Sunday morning was fine. I agre with pp if it is making you bend over in pain I would call the RE.

my REs office said it was normal. not sure how i feel about that response...

their office is an hour away, so for now i am just loading up on tylenol and trying to get through the labs i have to teach.

ugh...

@meganfauer glad to have a cycle buddy! my beta is on the 16th. when we have iui's on weekends they always push it until monday.

Sounds like mild OHSS actually. A lot of doctors pass it off in the beginning because OHSS usually takes hold after 7dpo. However on the cycles I've had it it started almost immediately after the IUI. If it feels like period cramps with pressure on your bowels or bladder it likely is a mild form of it. Drink Gatorade just in case and if it doesn't get better mention OHSS to the nurse and ask for an ultrasound. They will be able to see if theirs free fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Also did you have a large amount of follies? I know in case with more than 4 or 5 the fluid from the follicles can migrate over to the pertinium causing a fake version of OHSS. In that case it will go away much sooner.
