I'm sure this has been posted about. Sorry if it's a repeat. Does anyone have a double stroller that they love? Anyone have trouble with side by side strollers getting through doors or smaller areas?
TIA

We're going with the City Mini Double. Not cheap (you have to buy all the accessories separately), but the research I have done is all positive.
My coworker has one of the BOB dbl strollers, and she says she has no issues at all going through doors. She had both types, and said side by sides were far better when it came to steering, and it allowed both kids to see what was going on.
I'll be getting the City Mini Double GT (the GT is the brand new style that has "air tires"). I'm not a fan of the wheels on the traditional City Mini, we do a lot of outside walks and like having air or foam tires.
We have a bumbleride, side by side double that we LOVE! It is also not cheap but we got it for a great deal on ebay and at the time it came with a rain cover, a car seat adapter bar and a pump for the tires. Their customer service is great.
I can't speak from experience, but we've narrowed it down to either a Baby Jogger City Mini double or the Joovy Scooterx2. The Joovy has gotten great reviews too and the basket on that thing is enormous! The price for the Joovy is $229 and it includes a lot of the accessories that the BJCM doesn't. So the price tag is weighing heavily in my mind right now...
DS will only be 15 months old when this baby is born so we want a good double stroller for 2U2. We plan to buy the BJ City Select early this fall. It's a tandem stroller so you don't have to worry about fitting through doors.
If you go to Buy Buy Baby you can test drive a lot of the nicer doubles, since Babies R Us doesn't carry many in stock at the store.

I LOVE my Bumbleride Indie Twin. Best stroller ever! No issues fitting through doorways, but plenty roomy for my kids even now at 3 1/2 and 2. Folds super easily, huge storage basket underneath, pushes easily even with one hand, works with quite a few car seats if you intend to use that feature. Obviously air filled tires, wouldn't even consider one without that (had to buy a cheapie at the last minute once and the plastic tires were just awful). The quality is great - no cheap plastic parts, looks like new after 2 years. We bought the single Indie when DS was born and that one still looks/works great, too. Doesn't hurt that the Bumblerides are stylish, either - I love the color selections.
Plus, it's a great company. When we first got our single Indie I was confused about folding it. They spent 10 minutes on the phone walking me through the fold, then emailed me later that day to make sure I got it and was happy with the product. Last year DH blew up one of my tires trying to fill it and they were super accommodating about getting a new one shipped out to us.

I just ordered a double Bob yesterday because I love my single one & will let you know about it as soon as I get it in. FYI you can get 20% off on them at REI for the next 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure they are kinda huge though so I also found a Baby Trend sit & stand double stroller online for a bargain and will use that for outings that will involve getting through narrow spaces.

We just went to Buy Buy Baby last weekend (they had a LOT more strollers out than Babies R Us!) and were totally sold on the City Mini Double. It has this insanely easy folding mechanism you just pull on two handles on top of the seats and it folds in half really compactly (at least for a double). I also looked at the GT but it was $180 more at our store and to me the features weren't worth IMO. I know I'll be able to get the City Mini in my hatchback with no problems and room to spare. If you can, definitely go check out the strollers in a store - it makes such a difference! Once I saw the gigantic "cheap" tandem strollers that even the staff couldn't fold up my decision was made. We do plan to use the Baby Trend Snap and Go while the twins are in infant car seats.
I plan to go test drive and check things out, but since DD will be 2+, I am going to attempt wearing baby #2 and continuing to use our existing single strollers. When baby #2 is old enough, I was thinking I will invest in a double Maclaren for normal everyday trips.
We'll see if I'm completely insane (note that we also don't go on daily walks, etc. since I work full-time, so our needs are different than others').
Wow. Thanks for all the responses! I wish we had a Buy Buy Baby in St. Louis. Unfortunately we only have BRU. I'll have to check it out next time we are in KC. I'll have to start some research. Baby will be here before I know it. I'm starting to get that paniced feeling.

I dont know anything about the City Mini Double GT... But as an FYI my sister-in-law has the Phil and Ted double with air tires... and she was on a long walk with the kiddies and got a flat... It was a tough walk home!! So make sure to carry flat fix with you I guess! Or maybe the GT has run flat tires and is ok... Just wanted to give you the heads up...
Because of her situation with the flat we bought the City Select.. I have been very happy with it so far but have only used it as a single with DD... Dont know how it will be with 2 yet!!
We're leaning toward the BabyTrend Sit N Stand. I think DS will like being about to get in and out by himself so easily, especially a year from now when we actually need it (we rarely bother with a stroller in WI winter, and while #2 is that small I'll likely want to wear them and push DS anyway).

I have the Baby Jogger City Mini Double stroller and it is amazing. I highly HIGHLY recommend it.
The other stroller we were considering was the Bumbleride Indie Twin, which I also loved, but we went with the City Mini.
