So, I haven't posted in a while, but I am at the point of complete confusion and sadness. I had a consult with Dr. Peters at SIRM. He was convinced that my 8 early miscarraiges MUST be from some sort of immunological issue. That is the main reason I went to SIRM for a consult. I was convinced (and so was he) that I must have elevated NK cells or something.
Well, my bloodwork came back completely normal. So.......on paper, my husband and I look perfect. The only problems I have are MTHFR and some elevated hormones that I take medication for. There are absolutely NO answers as to why I keep miscarrying. I have been TTC for 4 years without a single answer as to why I haven't been able to carry a baby to term.
I am completely lost because I truly feel that there is not a doctor out there that can help me. I feel like there is not enough evidence, even after 2 IVF cycles, for a doctor to tell me to use an egg donor or gestational carrier. I am lost, confused, and sad. I am not quite sure where to go from here. Do I use a gestational carrier with my eggs and hubby's sperm? Do I do another IVF cycle with my eggs and hope for the best (I only have 2 more covered by insurance, thankfully, which is why I am feeling like this is a terrible idea)? Do I use an egg donor? Do I give up on having a biological child? Not sure what to do.....obviously.
Thank you so much for listening if you got this far!
After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption! We are so excited to see what the future holds.
Re: Confused....
I'm sorry you didn't get more answers.
Do you know what immune panel they ran? was it basic and sent to quest or labcorp or did it go to reprosource?
How was your MHTFR been treated in your previous cycles? Did he have any ideas to deal with it?
SIRM typically adds dexamethasone and baby aspirin to IVF cycles, have you done this in the past?
Will he do intralipids anyway with an IVF cycle?
I would say don't give up on trying until you feel like you have exhausted all possibilities.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

since i've been researching this for a while and am now with Dr. B, i have the following suggestions, feel free to ignore
ask about doing low-dose lovenox with your cycle, it can aid with implantation and help with lining
dr. b recs prednisone over dex because it doesn't pass through placenta, ask about adding pred to cycle, you would start with stims and slowly ween off towards end of first tri. i take 10mg every morning first thing.
see if thinks intralipids could still possiibly make a difference.
my nk's came back pretty normal from quest b/w and from dr. b's reprosource panel. i did not think that it was cause of my losses, i really thought it was my bleeding issues. since getting pregnant this time and with constant monitoring with dr. b, my nk levels have risen despite being on prednisone and neupogen. i did intralipids after immune monitoring showed them elevated and then actually had to add IVIG last week when they rose even more so i think it can be an issue. i will have immune b/w repeated next week and hopefully the nk's will have gone down. this is the farthest i have ever gotten and i credit my persistence in getting answers and my RE at SIRM and Dr. B.
GL cutie, let me know what dr. P says about next steps.

Thanks so much and I will definitely take your suggestions and ask Dr. P. I always wondering if the NK cells could change with pregnancy. I guess you pretty much answered that question.
I am so, so happy for you. I am so glad things are going well with your pregnancy! I really appreciate your suggestions.

I don't know about these specific issues, but hugs. I'm sorry this has to be so hard. I def think worms has some great insights, and is doing well w dr b.
I don't have much to add, but wanted to say that Dr. P is really great about answering emails. I always seem to get nervous when talking to Drs over the phone and I can collect my thoughts much better with email. I was a patient with Dr. P with my 2nd IVF. He had me on Dexamethasone. Had the ivf worked, I was suppose to stay on it through the first trimester.
