OOP IUI Meds

I left a voicemail for my RE earlier today to schedule the CD3 u/s for our first IUI.  The nurse just called back.  I expected "We'll get you in at xx:xxa/p".  Instead, she starts asking me about all of these medications... Femara (which, I knew about - and planned to use), Orvidel, and Prometrium... Where I want to order them from... What form I want to take the progrestrone in.. Where I want my labs drawn...

Call me completely overwhelemed.  I spent most of the call asking "What's the difference".. and "Umm.. ok.. sure".  I'm still not sure what just happened......

Any of you OOP girls... How much does this slew of meds usually run you?  I know how much the IUI and monitoring will run... I did a little investigating on the Femara... But I didn't think of the Orvidel or the Prometrium.  (Mostly because I didn't realize that I'd be using them...Idea)

Me: 32, DH: 45... TTC #1 since May 2010
July - Nov 2011: Testing with OB... OB said everything looks good
March - Sept 2012: Moved to RE.. 4 treatment cycles - responses of one or no follicles
09.03.12: Diagnosed Poor Ovarian Response.. DE IVF only option
Feb - Nov 2012: Pursued Adoption. That door slammed shut.
12.23.12: Surprise BFP (first ever)... 12.25 - 12.31: Natural M/C

Ovidrel costs me about $90ish from Walgreens using their Pharmacy program, Femara is covered by my insurance and they say (I haven't taken it yet) it will be less than $5. I don't take prometrium, so I can't help there. :( my 60 progesterone suppositories run me $12.

Ovidrel is a trigger shot and will be used to time your IUI, and prometrium is progesterone, which is common to take in the 2ww.

On my last cycle, my meds ran about $460.  That was for 10 50mg clomid pills, 4 vials of bravelle, 1 vial of orvidel, and 20 progesterone suppositories.  Google Freedom Fertility and you can also get pricing there.

I was RXd progesterone supposedtories and with my insurance covering 0%, that part of our monthly chunk of meds is around $40 from Kroger's Pharmacy. I really didn't get a chance to shop around because there arent many compound pharmacies between my house and work.

My insurance covers my Femera which runs about $15 thru CVS.  My insurance does not cover Ovidrel so the first time i went thru CVS and it ran over $110, then the next cycle i used  Freedom Fertility and total it was about $70.  I would recommend checking Freedom Fertility, I've used them twice and very pleased.

My insurance offers no coverage for fertility meds, but covered Femara and Crinone (progesterone gel) as they are also used for other purposes.

I am out of pocket for the trigger shot; I was told that the intramuscular formulations of HCG were less expensive so I have been using pregnyl rather than ovidrel. I've paid anywhere from $60-79 per cycle for that, OOP.

The injectible fertility meds (for me, gonal-f) were the most expensive.

Something must be terribly wrong... I paid just over only $7 for the Prometrium and the Femara.  The receipt says "Your insurance saved you $xxx"... But I'm still hesitantly expecting a nice bill soon....

Now I have to decide on which Trigger to use..... Not sure if I can get DH to give me the IM shot.  Not sure if I can get myself to give me the sub-q shots...lol.

I take Femera and its covered by my ins I pay $5... My clomid was covered as well at $5..

Ovidrel is not covered and I paid $90 through a pharmacy my drs office recommended. But my ins will cover the HCG shot at $5 so my dr has ok'ed this ( basically a generic of ovidrel)

My progesterone I got from same pharmacy and it was $20 I believe..

I can't really complain about my meds.. but once we get to injects the ins won't cover so Ill have to pay ..
