Hi ladies,
I am fully stocked with things for a vaginal recovery, but I just realized since my doctor gave me a big chance of c-section, that I should ask about things needed for a c-section recovery.
Some ladies have mentioned blow drying the incision site which is great, but are there things you need like a vaginal recovery? Can you use Dermoplast on the incision or do you just stick with the oral pain medication? What do I need?
TIA!

I'm not sure about the dermoplast. I would lean towards no, but your OB would have to tell you. I was told to keep it dry and at my 1 week followup she told me I could put whatever I wanted on it.
I found the following things useful:
Abdominal binder- the hospital gave me one and it was good, but I really wanted to try a different nicer brand. I never got around to ordering one, so I'll just use theirs again. Compression really helped from feeling like my guts were falling out!
Mesh panties- I'd be ok with super high granny panties- not the little bit frumpy period panties next to the skimpy ones, but the REAL granny panties that come up under your boobs in a section all by themselves in the lingerie department. I just took a bunch of the mesh panties home though since I hadn't had time (ok, I was too embarrassed) to buy the granny panties. The mesh panties at my hospital are boy shorts and are actually really comfortable. They WILL wash on delicate also! Regular underwear, even ones that I could pull up over my pp fat, would roll down and land right on my incision.
Step stool- I didn't find the recliner comfortable for some reason, but getting into bed was challenging at first. A step stool was really helpful.
Pants- make sure if you have yoga pants that they don't have a seam right where your incision would be. I didn't think about that since the fold over band is so stretchy, but there was a seam between the pants and the band that was still snug pp on my incision when I sat.
Pain meds- I personally think people who don't take their pain meds are whackadoos, but that's just me. I felt MUCH better in the immediate days following the c/s when I kept on top of the meds. Once I started getting behind it was really hard to play catch-up.
Nursing- If you're BF'ing, a traditional (don't know what it's called) position where you cradle the baby in front MIGHT bother you. It didn't bother me a ton, but the football hold was still much more comfortable. Make sure to ask for help with that position if you need it.
That's all I can think of. Don't forget there's a c/s board with TONS of info on it over there <----------
ETA: and as far as regular underwear go, I was back at my pre-pg weight, but had a pretty epic c/s "pouch". Anything under the pouch rubbed on my incision, so my normal underwear didn't work. I could pull them up on my pouch and they'd just roll down lol.
I forgot about the c-section boards! Ok, thanks for all the help ladies and your comments about it being NBD eases my mind.
Totally LOL about the granny panties and not wanting to buy them. I actually had to break down and buy some last month because none of my undies fit anymore! They will sure come in handy!
I also totally agree about the pain meds. If a mommy is in pain, she can't take care of her baby as effectively. A pain free, happy, and comfortable mommy is a much better mommy!
