as this has been asked on other boards, why not get it going here? What are you putting in LO's Easter baskets (if you celebrate Easter -- if not, doing anything special around this time for another holiday like Passover)?
I go super practical for the most part -- bit of candy naturally, then gardening stuff for the kids, pool needs (beach towel and swimsuit), toothbrushes, other clothing items needed like hats, sunglasses, flip flops, nightgowns and dresses, and then a few fun items like a book, movie, pool toy, dollar bin plastic animals and clearance bubble gun.

Re: Easter baskets
We're travelling to Chicagoland this weekend, so the bunny's gonna be a little light this year as there won't be much room in the suitcase. Plus, he doesn't eat candy, so I'll throw in some Welch's Fruit Snack packets, since he's addicted to those.
Will probably "borrow" a basket of some sort from our friends in Chicago. I'm sure she'll have something for him as well. We're going to a fancy brunch that features an appearance by the EB, too.
I did buy a cheap AF Thunderbirds kite that we'll pack along and play with there and then abandon. If he freaks later.. I can always get another one at Walmart. He also has a couple of cute books and grandma bought him two new Thomas trains while she was here last month. Might also pick up a very small plush bunny or something.. he's got plenty of stuff animals already, but no bunnies.
I will reserve a Charlie Brown musical Easter book that he'll get when we get home. Also a few tub toys that are too big to take along.

WHOA! how big are these "baskets"?? This is DS first Easter (out of NICU) and he's still too young to get it. He's getting a Rice Crispy Peep and a handmade corduroy bunny - has Easter loot gone up since we were kids? We got candy in plastic eggs and a stuffie or some small trinket.
I don't know if that will change over the years, but unlikely. We try to keep the focus on the religious part of the day - the basket is just a traditional treat for us.
plastic eggs with m&ms and jelly beans
a stuffed bunny that purrs when you press its belly with a cadbury egg (for Mama!) around its neck
a sheet of Easter stickers
a thing of bubbles

Yeah, I probably spent about $15-20 total, and most of that was the $8 Charlie Brown book.
I've never really done baskets - this year we're doing an egg hunt with some friends. We're all bringing a dozen plastic eggs with stuff inside them - I still haven't figured out what I'm going to put in them. But he'll do the egg hunt and get whatever's in the eggs he "finds". I'm guessing he's not really going to get it yet this year (8.5 months) but he'll be in good company
The teens will get gift cards in an Easter card.
