HCG baby??

HI!.. I hope someone can give me some good advice.

My last period was some time in Feb before Valentine's day, or some time after and before the 27th of feb where I went to a special event. (I know, i'm bad. I just simply can't remember when exactly! but i know it was in feb, and not on valentines day or the special event day.

11 days before my special event I did the fad HCG diet to lose a couple extra pounds. For 11 days before the 27th I injected 7 cc's of the HCG compound into my sides or stomach.

Last wed, (03/28/12) I took 6 pregnancy tests at home. Different types, different brands (i know, i'm crazy) and they all came out positive On friday, (03/30/12) I took another pregnancy test at planned parenthood and it also was positive (another urine test tho) She estimated me at 6 weeks

I talked to the nurse and explained I had been doing the HCG diet the month before for a short time. She said she didn't know enought about the drug and doesnt know how long it will stay in my system or if it is giving me the positive test. Basically, she set me up for a u/s on the following friday and I am scared to death that there will be nothing there and this is all just a false positive from the stupid diet I did over a month ago

I still have not had my period, my boobs are sooo sore and I am constantly nauseous... please let this be a baby!!

Anyone know more about this drug and whether it would be out of my system and if the tests are true?! I'm really freakin out... thanks!

I really don't want to upset you or anything, and I don't know anything about the hcg diet, but I would think that if you were injecting yourself with an hcg compound, that is most likely why you are testing positive? Also, shouldn't you know more about this hcg compound if you are putting it into your body?

Some of my family went through that fad diet last year and now my StepMom actually works for a DIY HCG company. I asked them when they did this program is the guys that were doing it would test positive for being pregnant. I was told that it would not trigger a positive pregnancy test. However, theirs were the under the tongue drops.

I imagine even if it did trigger a positive, it wouldn't trigger one this far out. I imagine that you are pregnant.

Ha. Shows how much I know. Like I said, I don't know anything about this diet. Well, OP, I am hoping for the best for you!

I was on fertility treatments and had an HCG injection to release my egg. I have read it takes 10 days or more to leave your system. My RE told me to wait 17 days before testing. It never completely tested out, but got real light before it started getting darker. I went in to the Dr after the 17 days because I knew I was Pg and it was confirmed with a blood test.

I am surprised you had REAL HCG. I guess with injections it's possible. I thought this was only available through prescriptions. I know last year my DH and I did the liquid form, but even though they are called hcg drops they are not "real" hcg.

Good luck! Are the tests getting darker as the days go on?

After reading the last comment I ran out and got more tests.

The test read the same as the ones last week. Actually the pregnancy line is the darkest line!... I haven't used the hcg drug since feb 27th... surely.. it would be out of my system and this can be true??

I would suggest a blood test at your OB to confirm a pregnancy. Fertility injections that cause a false positive only stay in your system for 14days so I'm guessing it would be out of your system.

Yes, yes they would.

OP- The "general" rule of thumb is that your body breaks down hCG at a rate of 1,000 units a day. If you took less than 25,000 units or so, then you should be getting a real positive. Everyone's metabolism is different though, so it's best to verify with an u/s

The amount of hCG in the diet is so low you wouldnt get a positive urine test from it --much much lower than the trigger shots--basically it is the whole trigger shot diluted with saline and split in multiple syringes.

However, the diet (because of the slight rise of hCG) does make you more fertile. Most Drs will tell you to be on some form of BC while on this.
