Do any of you second time mom's have any suggestions on what type of laundry detergent to use? I am clueless on this. My baby boy already has quite the closet of clothes so the sooner I start washing the better. Thanks!

Re: what to wash baby clothes in..
From past experiences with both DD and DS, I would avoid Dreft or other 'baby scented detergents". Both of them had rashes from the start with Dreft, so it was a no-brainer for us. We use All Free & Clear for the kiddos and haven't had any issues with rashes, etc. When combined with the Clorox 2 free & clear, I have gotten out 95% of the stains they encounter on a daily basis LOL.
I've also known friends that preferred 7th Generation and Tide Free & Clear as well. HTH!
EDIT: Also, I'd recommend not washing too many clothing items yet. Sizing can be way off on newborns, and you have no idea how big LO will be at delivery (just trying to save you a hassle with exchange/returns
)

I used Purex dye/scent free in the beginning. For his cloth diapers, I used Rockin' Green.
Once I found out he wasn't sensitive to scents and whatnot I just washed his stuff in Gain (what we use).

I had a friend start out using the expensive, organic baby soap, but now just uses the Arm and Hammer free and clear you can get at costco.
this is my plan for now incase baby has allergies to dye/fragarance.

Another vote for all free and clear.
I just used our regular detergent (Tide Cold Water). For DD's things, I don't put in as much as for ours, and at first, I put everything through the rinse cycle a second time to help get as much detergent out as possible.
And I second PP's comment about maybe not washing everything ahead of time since you don't know what size LO will fit in at first. I would think you would be safe washing anything 3-6M and up, but I would only do a few newborn and 0-3M things ahead of time so you can return the rest if needed.

We use whatever Free & Clear detergent is on sale (no perfumes or dyes). I use it too because I have eczema.
I bought Dreft in the beginning with DS and it's heavily perfumed...I don't know how they label that as being better for baby's skin vs. a regular detergent. lol
