Am I really the only one doing candy in baskets

Or does it just seem that way. I am doing a chocolate bunny, Peeps and born ably jelly beans with a few cheap things like a pinwheel and bubbles and overhead earphones they need for vacation. Then chocolate in some of the eggs too. It seems most people here are anti-Easter candy but I am trying hard not to turn Easter into a big gift giving holiday.

Re: Am I really the only one doing candy in baskets

  • We are doing a chocolate bunny, some jelly beans, and some pb eggs.  They also have a few small gifts--books, stickers, sand toys.  I didn't get a ton of candy b/c I knew that the grandparents would.  Everything has to fit in the basket.  If it doesn't fit, it gets moved to a different holiday.

  • We're doing candy and a few little $1 items from Target's dollar section.  We'll put some jellybeans in some plastic eggs for DD to hunt.  I too don't want to turn Easter into a big gift giving holiday.

  • We do plenty of candy!   Between a school egg hunt (with candy, gasp!), a neighborhood egg hunt (candy) and what the Easter Bunny brings....they have plenty of sugar.  Of course, they don't eat it all in one sitting and sometimes we even wind up throwing candy out because they don't get to eat it all.  Their baskets will have some small toys and one smallish gift and then candy...peeps, jelly beans, chocolate eggs and a bunny.

  • We do some candy and small items.  Because of food allergies we are limited on the candy front so they have Swedish fish eggs, jelly beans and some kind of gummy lollipop.  I also will put some tattoos in plastic eggs along with little plastic hopping bunnies.  Finish off with some bubbles - voila!

  • I'll probably get them a little candy.  My parents always seem to get them a lot of candy for Easter, so I don't need to get them too much.

  • No candy for us. Not needed. Dried fruit and yogurt covered raisins are our treats!

  • I'm not anti-candy, but I know the grandparents will give candy baskets, so I prefer to do outdoor toy stuff or books.

  • One Snickers egg, one Reeses egg, and some jelly beans and fruit snacks in eggs. I may give them a couple of Peeps, too.

It's not a huge amount of candy. They're getting a few small toys and books to round things out.

  • I plan on doing a little of everything. Candy, books, coloring books, new playdoh, gardening stuff, bubbles, sunglasses. Definitely a chocolate easter bunny will be in there!

a little bit of candy for us that I dole out over time (DS will only eat Kinder Riegel -- thanks, MIL).  So they each get a chocolate bunny (DH eats DS's as he won't), one chocolate egg, some jelly beans in eggs, kinder riegel bars and a lollipop.  I think that's it.

  • This is easter is it not???

I picked up some jelly beans, mini eggs, mini creme eggs (num num...) and some little things too (little bouncy balls, rub on tattoos, a my little pony for a special surprise). And I may still grab a kinder surprise egg to pop in there too!

But no candy at easter is like no turkey at thanksgiving in this house ;P

  • I'm not putting candy in her basket because my mom is also giving DD a basket, and that is sure to contain treats.

  • We are definitely doing candy. I haven't decided what exactly, yet, but the basket will be heavy on the chocolate.

  • We do candy, maybe some sidewalk chalk, but mostly candy and I'll probably put in some of the eggs we dye. I don't like to turn it into a "gift" holiday, because I don't think every special event needs to be a present occasion. We also don't do lots and lots of candy--a chocolate bunny, some jelly beans and maybe a few other small things.

  • No, you are not the only one.  We are doing a chocolate bunny, Cadbury mini eggs, and some mini chocolates that we are placing inside the plastic eggs.

  • No candy here but my dad and his wife did baskets and all they gave the kids was candy and baby lamb stuffed animals.

  • We do candy.  Most of it ended up being thrown out because we forget about it.  I am sure that will not be a problem this year.  I did get them some small toys too

  • I am having goodies in his basket...bunny fruit snacks,a fruit leather, a small thing of chocolate, a book and maybe some other small thing. It is not a big gift giving time for me either.

  • My problem with candy is I end up eating it!! I've bought a few chocolate items for DS basket and have eaten them! So we shall see if I replace it before Easter, I may wait until the last minute so I do not indulge.  haha!

  • We're not doing "baskets", we bought all of the boys some Legos.  We'll give them some candy too, but it just won't be part of their basket.
  • I'm doing lots of candy :-P LOL  Not quite so much for the little one (and what he is getting, we will probably end up eating...) because he just isn't into as much.

  • I'm totally not anti-Easter candy; I'm doing a fruit basket this year for my daughter because she doesn't eat candy.  At all.  And it's not from my lack of trying to convince her.  So, putting candy in her basket would be a waste because while she'll enjoy looking at it and telling people she got candy, she'd never eat it.  I would and that CANNOT happen! :)

  • I would do candy if DS1 could have any normal candy...i am doing an Easter themed Thomas the Train instead...

  • I believe Easter has got to include some candy!

I gave M&M's  (2 snack packs), a lollipop shaped like an easter bunny.  An egg filled with about 10 jelly beans, and an egg with about 5 lifesaver candies (not whole rolls).  That was it for the candy. Then various little toys .
