First Day at Day Care

I go back to work on Thursday, but we are putting DD in day care a couple days earlier to make the transition "easier".  Tomorrow will be her first day at day care...ugh...I can't believe how fast maternity leave went.  Any advice on how to walk out the door not a complete wreck?

    breathe.. thats my only advice

    Yes

I almost think it was easier to jump right into work and daycare at the same time. At least at work I was busy... At home I would have NEVER stopped thinking about DD.

  • I know I will be a wreck too, but I am sending DH to do the drop off, permanently most likely.  I just don't think I can do it.  However, hold your head high, you picked this daycare for your child, you checked it out, you are paying them good money and you have the right to call and check in as much as you'd like.  Then go to work and get it done because as soon as your day ends you can go back to your LO.  Good luck.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • Im not going to lie, I cried like a baby when I left.  I really think that leaving DS at the sitter was harder than giving birth. He has been there for 3 weeks now and is doing fine.  But I still get a cringe in my tummy in the morning knowing I have to drop him off.

I really think it was harder on me than it is for him.

  • I came back to work last week and I spent a good part of the day in bathroom crying!!  Leaving DD was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life!!  You will be a wreck the first couple of days or even weeks but it does get a bit eaiser.  We have a really nice nanny for her and DH drops her off in the morning b/c if I had to do.  That lady would have to kick me out her house every morning.  This morning I even had a bit of a melt down but it normal.  We are strong moms and our los will be OK, and its ok to be a wreck for a while. After all they are the joys of our life!!  Good Luck
