Any Other Bump Crossfitters?

If so, just wondering what you are doing to modify down.  I am DETERMINED to gain less with this pregnancy than I did with DD :)  I have become addicted to xFit, and want to stick with it (safely of course), along with running, barre, and yoga.  Anyone else??

Re: Any Other Bump Crossfitters?

  • My last pregnancy I gain 45lb. I am going to try to stay motivated this time and eat healthy and exercise.... I haven't experienced any morning sickness yet though, so we will see if I am still as determined if and when the morning sicknesses start. I just plan on eating healthier and going to the gym. Im gonna wish us both luck :)

  • I have a friend who actually works for Crossfit, and continued to do it all throughout her pregnancy (modifying, as you mentioned)! She just showed her stomach 6 months postpartum and has a complete six pack again!

  • I have three good friends who did CF all throughout their pregnancy and barely modified anything, other than at the very end when they were so large that it was hard to get the barbell around their bellies for snatches, etc. Doctors will tell you too, but CF knowledge says otherwise. Both of them had very healthy babies, easy deliveries, and were back to pre-baby body within a couple months of delivery.

  • My DH is a crossfit trainer and I was big into it before I got pregnant but I haven't had the energy or felt well enough lately. Anyway there are some great articles out there on women who did crossfit through their whole pregnancy. The biggest thing I read is no sit ups or ab-mat sit ups or any exercises that required you laying on your back. Also www.crossfitmom.com is a great website with tons of WODs!! GL
  • I don't do crossfit but I take a pretty high intesity class at the gym. I have been modifying any of the jumping excercises, for example, if they do jump squats, I just do regular squats. I have also lowered the amount of weight I am using. I usually use 15lb weights when taking the class and am now using 10lbs. Other than that I am trying to keep up with the class as I was before. I have more energy the days I work out too!! Good luck!

  • I just started crossfit in Jan and was basically doing a crossfit lite as I was still building to do crossfit ( I have a small build but was not in the best of shape). When I found out I was pregnant I told my instructor and he said to do what my body told me. So for the last 5 weeks I just drink extra water and do as much as I can each class.  I hope to continue through my whole pregnancy.

  • I am just over 7 weeks and I haven't done any mods yet. Another girl at my box is about 30 weeks and I think she is just starting to do mods (lighter weights, not doing things like toes to bar, step-ups instead of box jumps). I don't think you need to worry about doing mods for sit-ups or anything laying on your back until the second trimester. As another poster mentioned, crossfitmom.com is a good resource.
