Did your water break before you went into labor?

If so, was it very obvious or just a slow leak?

1st time the OB broke it at 4 cm....2nd time it broke on its own during labor when I was 10 cm and had my first urge to push while nurses went to get OB to set up for delivery...it was a big POP and BLAST of water that shot out in front of me as the nurse was walking by...yeah, her pants got wet! OOPS!

Mine was an obvious slow leak, but I did not go into labor after (PROM).

I have no clue what this kid is planning.

The first time, after a few hours on pitocin, the Dr. broke mine . The second time, it broke just after they got my epidural placed. Both times it was a big ol' gush.

Nope, both times so far it was broken by the doctor at the hospital around 4cms.

No. They broke it in the hospital when I hit 3 cm. I was laying down at the time but it felt like a huge gush.

Mine broke with DD. It was obvious, not a huge Niagara Falls break but it was I had a steady leak that wouldn't stop. At first I just thought that I had peed myself. It didn't break until 9 hours into labor with my 2nd pregnancy.

i was induced at 41 weeks with my DS so the doctor broke my water.

but i remember requestign new sheets and a new gown because i was just drenched in bed.

Nope, it was broken for me in the hospital both times (at 9 cm with DS1 and 4 cm with DS2). Slow leak with both of them after it was broken due to how their heads were right on my cervix.

Yes, but it broke 8 hours after my contractions had started. It was an obvious gush.

Yep, water broke the day after my due date with DD#1. It was a slow leak and I thought I was incontinent at first. It gushed out later while I was at the hospital. Still waiting on this one...

Mine didn't break until about 5 minutes before I delivered. It broke during a contraction and was definitely Niagara falls!!! I am hoping for the same thing this time (water breaking in the hospital)

Mine did at home both times. I was already in active labor both times so I didn't really second guess it.

With DD my water had a slow leak that I didn't realize was there. It seemed like i had more mucous and I didn't think much of it. We didn't realize it broke until she tried to break it in the hospital about 2 days later when I was having active contractions.

Yes, standing in the kitchen making oatmeal, and a month early! SURPRISE! At first it was a smallish amount, so I went to take a shower and then there was a gush. It was obvious.

First time: they broke it at the hospital just before it was time to push

Second time: broke right around when I went into labor (I was sleeping, so I have no idea which came first). It was a small amount at first, just wet underwear. A few of the times I got up to use the bathroom it was very obviously my water, but not a huge gushing waterfall.
