My lo just turned 3 last Sunday. The tantrums have been the worst they have ever been. It starts right around bath time until basically try to get her to read books with me or my husband to prepare her for bed. We have been doing the same thing for months with no problems, until these last few days. I see she is showing independence in many ways and at times follow her lead if it obviously good. But when she in full out tantrum mode there is no taming the beast. Literally there is no way to talk to calm down a 3 year old. Any suggestions how other parents handle This stage?
Re: 3 year old tantrums
Sorry! I KNOW how terrible tantrums can be. Does your LO still nap? For tantrums or if DS gets whinny I tell him he can go in his room to take a break. I then let him have his tantrum (which can be terrible at times) in his own safe space. I have it figure out almost to the minute when I can approach DS again. Anything before works DS up more if I try to help him calm down.
Stick to your evening routine but maybe do a simple picture chart for her and let her know what is expect of her in the evening. Such as a picture of bath time, book and then bed.
Good luck!
