I have had a combo of mild depression, anxiety and OCD since I turned 30. It literally started around my birthday, yipee!!!!
I have been taking something on and off for what is now 7 years. When pregnant with DD I took lexapro 10mg the entire time and within 3 days of delivery, upped the dose to 20mg. I felt some PPD coming on.
I switched to celexa about 11 months ago. I am currently on 30mg of it. I met with my psych regarding a "plan" for after delivery. She said that if I need to up the dose to do so right away to 40mg.
Do any of you have a "plan" in place? IF so, what is the plan? What meds are you currently taking? Are you planning on switching or starting something right after delivery?
Thanks ladies!
Re: Those with depression/anxiety issues
I also have a combo of anxiety & OCD...I've lived with it for almost 20 years. Blah.
I was on Zoloft 50 mg for about 5-7 years before I got pregnant with DS & then once I found out I was pregnant with him, I went off the Zoloft cold turkey. BIG MISTAKE for me. I was a MESS. The OCD was at its worst ever & I developed depression in my 3rd tri. As soon as he was born I went right back on my Zoloft 50 mg. I felt SO much better!
I ended up increasing my dose to 100 mg when he was about a year old due to some increasing issues with OCD. When I found out I was pregnant with this current baby, my new OB & I decided that staying on my Zoloft would be very beneficial this time. I have been on Zoloft 50 mg this entire pregnancy & I have been feeling great.
I plan on staying on the Zoloft after she is born, since I've had such great results with it for so long. I'll see how things go once she gets here, but I MAY increase it to 100 mg again.

I've been on 10mg of Lexapro for a long time now for Anxiety. Was on 20mg but was having sexual side effects (if you know what i mean) that seem to be non-existent at 10mg. Tried to go off early in pregnancy and was NOT good, had some BAD panic and dr. and I decided it best to stay on.
I don't have a POST pregnancy plan, but I have all those support people in place so I'm not too worried! HA! the ONE thing I'm not worried about!
Thank you to those that answered, it really helps to talk to others. I wish you all the best ladies.
I have ADD, Depression and Anxiety..
I used to be on Zoloft for anxiety/depression but took myself off it years ago only to end up on several others (none working) until I found Xanax to be taken as needed (very low dose) which was most effective for both my anxiety and depression (the depression was generally caused by high levels of anxiety). I took low doses of Adderall for the ADD to remain focused.
I got off my meds right after our honeymoon (I got pregnant on our honeymoon) and have been doing OK thus far. There have been many many times where I could have benefited from taking a Xanax, but my doctor advised me to avoid these prescription meds while pregnant.
My plan is to take the Xanax as needed after birth and if I develop PPD, I will return to my prescribing psychologist for his referral in an appropriate med to deal with it.
I won't take the Adderall until I am finished breast feeding. The lack of focus is OK for now and I'm doing well dealing with it.

Hi Ladies- I have been dealing with depression for 12 years since college. I have seen several psychiatrists and tried numerous medicines throughout this time. Most recently I was on Cymbalta long term, it was working for me, until we started TTC. I was able to find a psychiatrist who specializes in women's mood disorders and has much experience working with pregnant women. She helped me transition off Cymbalta and onto an older more well studied drug called Pamelor. I have been taking 100 mg daily since last summer, and am currently 7 months pregnant. I've been doing pretty well on the pamelor, and have been happy with how i've been able to manage my depression and anxiety through this pregnancy. I also think that it is worth while to search for a specialist in your area that deals with maternal mood disorders. It was well worth the search for me. I don't plan to stay on pamelor forever, as I think I need more meds to help me regulate my symptoms long term.
