Sorry for being a PW tonight but this weekend I realized my pants are starting to get tight and I probably don't have much time before I need maternity clothing. I thought this would excite me but when I looked around the mall a bit today I was just depressed and went home empty handed. I guess I was more attached to my fairly mediocre pre-baby body than I thought. I am thinking maybe if I jump start my maternity wardrobe with something awesome maybe it will be easier... any super cute ideas?
This vent was specifically brought on by realizing I probably need a maternity bathing suit for my vacation in May... how depressing...
Re: I don't want to buy maternity clothes!
I was able to wear my favorite jeans with my Bella band yesterday. I can foresee that working for a while longer.
My mainstay, though, are my Rachel Pally dresses... you can wear them pregnant and not pregnant. If you want something cute and on trend that you can keep wearing and doesn't scream "MATERNITY DRESS!" I highly recommend her as a designer.
Ha yes I think I need to start there. I am only working four days this week (Friday off) and plan on wearing dresses at least 3 of those days since the pant situation is not good. lol.
The first time I went to a maternity store I freaked out a bit. All the pants with the big belly panels.. EW. Then out of desperation (nothing fit!) I went to buy a couple pair of black work pants at Motherhood Maternity. I hated buying them, but WOW, now I'm a convert. So freaking comfy!
My favorite "cute" items have been from the sale rack at Pea in the Pod. They have some nice designer-ish dresses and stuff (some I swear aren't even maternity!) that I can wear after the pregnancy but still fit now. They definitely carry full on "maternity" clothes there, but there are also a nice selection of "normal" clothes that are just cut roomier. I have a Max and Cleo printed dress I bought a few weeks back that I adore.
This! I don't need them yet, but when I do I will not fight it.

Also, with the bathing suit situation, you don't necessarily need to go with a maternity one. I went to a specialty bathing suit store and just bought a tankini that was quite long and the bottoms were great since they fold down for less coverage and up for more. I couldn't deal with all the ugly maternity ones I found though there are some cute ones online.

I felt this way too, but now I wonder why everyone doesn't wear jeans with an elastic waistband!!
When I was pregnant with my first the hair tie/rubber band trick held off maternity clothes for weeks!!! (I didn't like the bella band.) But I'm totally with PP, maternity pants are the most comfortable things ever! I also found a pair of maternity leggings at H&M that were sooooo amazing! I never left the house with them on, probably didn't even go on the back porch, but they were awesome! This time around I'm breaking into my maternity clothes asap! Once you're over that hump of "god, I need maternity clothes", there's no looking back!
And I also agree that there are some super cute things out there! You just have to look around a bit.
I got a bunch of cute stuff from Pea in the Pod, including a pair of maternity jeans. My friend actually complimented me on them the other day and I showed her they were maternity jeans and she was shocked.
Check their online sales, I got ten things for like $200.
Agree 100% with this! The first time around I put off maternity pants as long as I could in favor of the bella band, this time I'm not even messing with the damn band - straight to my comfy pants please!
Agreed **
I literally LOL'd at this one! And I agree! I'm glad I didn't wait until I was totally beyond uncomfortable in my normal pants. I'm holding out on tops until I have more belly tho.
