Is this ok?

So my side of the family lives about 2 1/2 hours away. My baby shower with them is the first Sunday in May. DH just got a new job and it is sounding like he may have to work the first Sunday of the month for a few months because of month end, until he gets all trained on how to do everything, which means he wouldn't be able to go to this one. I'm fine with him not going to the shower, he was just going to hang out with my brother anyways, but I don't really want to make the drive alone. Is it ok if I ask one of my friends to ride along with me? Maybe stop for dinner on the way back and buy her dinner as a thanks for coming along? I just think it will make the drive home for me seem not so daunting after the drive there and then a whole afternoon of shower activity...

    Personally I wouldn't make that drive alone, so I think it's a great idea to ask a friend to go with you and a sweet way to thank her is buying her dinner.

    I see nothing wrong with asking. I can't see why they would not want to help. My friends would do that in a heartbeat.

     I agree.... i think it's a great idea.

    I would definitely take a friend. You'll need help getting the car loaded an unloaded anyway. It's also a long drive by yourself. If your feet are swelling at all yet, you'll probably need to be able to stop and walk around or shift positions in the car. I wouldn't want to walk around someplace strange by myself. You might just want to give your shower hostess a heads-up that you're bringing a guest.

    Oh yes I'll definitely let my aunt know I'm having a friend come along, but I know it won't be a problem with her either!

    Yes ask your friend to go.  I am sure they would.  Heck I'd go just for the food lol!
