My daughter was born last Sunday at 33w3d. She has been in the NICU since then. My water broke that morning at 5:30am and at 9:57am, Claire Elizabeth was born weighing 5lbs 12oz and 18 inches long.
She is doing great in the NICU, taking most of her feedings. She is off oxygen and may come home at the end of the week. It all depends on what she decides to do. She didn't listen when I told her that it was better for her to stay inside ![]()
She is currently in an isolette and will hopefully be in a crib by tomorrow. They had to put a feeding tube in but she hasn't needed it since last night.
It has been very overwhelming and a little scary. Most of the nurses have been wonderful, answering questions and helping us understand what is going on.
Re: Introduction
Congrats and welcome to the board! Love the name Claire :-)
Being a NICU mom is definitely very overwhelming and a little scary in the beginning...I know the first week was really rough for me. My LO spent a total of 40 days in the NICU before coming home 2 weeks ago. The nurses really are a great form of support.
It sounds like she is doing great though...I hope she comes home this week!
