Baby Names

What do you think?

So I really like the name Eden for a girl (my husband is coming around).

If we do end up naming her Eden, can you picture her as a respected adult?

If you were to stereotype Eden, what would it be?

  • I know one Eden, and she is a beautiful and very respectable girl.  She has a fun, outgoing personality.  I like it!
  • My first thought was Eden Wood from Toddlers and Tiaras.
    I love this man.

  • To me Eden sounds like an exotic-ish name, I picture a beautiful dark haired young lady. I like the name!
  • I think Eden is a lovely name for a child or adult. I can imagine the name Eden as a well-respected person.

I guess if I had to stereotype it, it makes me think about the Garden of Eden, lol.

  • Love Eden. I think it works equally well on a child and an adult.

I can't think of any stereotypes. I just like it.

  • For some reason, Eden has always seemed trashy/skanky to me. Same with Eve. I think it's because of that skanky Eve girl from Dawson's Creek. They're both biblical names and should therefore seem like the opposite of trashy, but this association has ruined them for me. (I guess I lump them together because they're both from Genesis 1/ the creation narratives.)

  • I think it's alright.  It's tainted for me because I've only known one Eden IRL and she is a biitch.

But I think the name would age pretty well and the only thing that comes to mind is the Garden of Eden.

  • I love Eden and it was one of my top girl name choices. I think it's beautiful.

However, DH vetoed it because he thought it was stripper-ish.

  • For some reason, I think of a stripper, and I have no idea why.  Sorry. Sad

  • I actually think it works well for an adult and is classy without being to far out there.

  • Honestly, all I can think of whenever I hear this name is an overly religious Christian pageant girl. This is because my mind goes right to two things -- Christianity and Eden Wood from Toddlers and Tiaras.

  • I like Eden. I don't see why it wouldn't work on as adult.

As far as a "stereotype" goes.....I would assume Eden, or at least her family, is Christian and religious.

  •  I immediately think of the girl on Toddler & Tiaras. I don't particularly like the name but I don't really like any names associated with religion.

  • This is not striper-ish at all, IMO. Just not crazy about it.

  • I never liked the name as a teen because the few Edens I knew were strange girls. I just didn't like it.

I started warming up to it when I heard of Eden Wood because she IS such a "cutie patootie". I don't care that it's associated with Toddlers and Tiaras.

Now I have a 10 month old niece with that name. The name has grown on me a lot more since she's such a sweetie.
