So, I have heard that formula babies go less than BF babies. I just don't know if this infrequently is an issue. I know if I email my dr she'll say "every baby is different" yadda yadda but I just wanted to compare on here with the other January mamas.

DS is BF and usually poops every day, but sometimes skips a day. He doesn't really strain while he's pooping that I've noticed, but does before he goes. He also has A LOT of gas, so grunts often during the day trying to pass it.
DS poops once a day normally, with the occasional twice daily poop. He gets about 6 bottles of formula and 2 bottles of breastmilk. He never strains and his poop is consistently mushy.
Wow. This post is really proving that every baby is different. And lucky me- I've got the uber-pooper
You aren't alone! My little dude is a breastfed baby and he poops multiple times per day. I would say at least 4 times per day and usually one or two are pretty large.
We are 90% formula 10% breast. DS goes every 3-4 days. He does grunt but poop is not hard so doc said no worries. He said it can be tough pooping lying down. I hadn't really thought of it that way.
DD is FF and she usually poops once every other day. Sometimes she'll poop two days in a row and sometimes (like today) she poops on the third day, but on overage it's every other day.

My DD is EBF and has an unusual pattern: she poops only once or twice for two days, then on the third day poops a TON, like six or seven times, then repeats. She really pushes when she poops, but she is very gassy so I am assuming the gas has a lot to do with it.

DD is EBF. She poops 3x per day. I noticed that at 6 weeks, when she began meds for reflux, that she now grunts. I'm not sure if it's the medicine or what. I also suspect she may have done milk sensitivity because she does have some mucus in her poo (not sure if that causes grunting).

We just switched from Similac Sensitive to Gerber because he was straining a lot and had hard or clay like poops. This was day 3 of the Gerber and he pooped 4 times today without straining.

Re: How often does your baby poop?
DD is BF and goes 3-6 times a day. They've gotten a lot smaller in general (about 2-3x the size of a quarter), but it's still pretty often.
DD will grunt and go "eeeeEEEHHH", but doesn't really strain. From the time she starts grunting to the poop it's only 30-90 seconds.
PS- your DS is SO handsome!

This made me snort my oatmeal out my nose. I needed a laugh! Thank you Megan!
Ro goes at least three big explosive ones a day. She's BF and they are messy! The drool from teething isn't helping the situation...
