I will be having my second scheduled C-section in June. After my first, the most difficult and painful part of recovery was getting from laying down in bed to sitting up in bed each time I had to wake up at night to feed the baby. I am thinking of getting some kind of wedge to sleep propped up for the first couple weeks in order to try to avoid this but I am not finding any really big wedges when I look on Amazon and other sites. Does anyone have any good suggestions for wedges or other methods of going from lying to sitting so frequently?
Re: Recommendations on Sleeping Post C-Section
I've had two C-sections and both times I was most comfortable on the couch for the first week home. I was able to just put the bassinet next to me and found it much easier to use the back and arm of the couch to get myself into a sitting position quickly.
I found it most comfortable to sleep on my back somewhat incline w/ a pillow under my head and one below that so it was under the top of my back. Then I had a pillow under my hip (I slept on the right side of the bed so the pillow went under my left hip) so I had a slight "push" to get outta bed. Also, have you tried a belly band? The hospital gave me one and, for me, I felt it "held" me in place and didn't hurt as bad when I moved around. It wasn't the most comfortable thing but it helped me w/ my pain.
Good luck!
This. We had twins so we were on double "doodies" anyway. I was so large at the end of my pregnancy that my DH was used to helping me get out of bed anyway during the night for my many trips to the bathroom, so he just continued. I found movement post c/s was much easier for me than getting around that last month of pregnancy.
I slept in my recliner for a week or so. It was so much easier to get in and out of and I've never had a problem snoozing there.
I slept in our bed, but had to have step so I could get up INTO bed (our bed is high).
Next time around, I will insist on a piece of rope being tied to the end post of the bed, so I can use it to pull myself to a sitting position.
I slept on my side with a small pillow on my belly. I could hold the pillow firmly to feel 'held in' while lifting myself off the bed with the other arm. That little purple pillow was my best friend for a few weeks.

This is what I did too. And really only for the first few days because I was in the hospital for four days and could use the bed there to get in and out easily. I also found that rather than trying to get up "normally" it was less painful to roll onto my side and kind of slide out of bed.
