  I've been told to watch for a fever, vomiting, or sudden change in behavior. I would probably take his temperature regularly, but if it's just coughing and some snot with no fever it's probably OK. That being said, I always say better to call than not so if you think you should then you should

  DS had a cold a couple of weeks ago. The receptionist said as long as it doesn't last longer than 10 days and he doesn't get a fever there isn't much they can do. I waited until Monday and went in anyway. The dr understood I am a crazy FTM. It was his first cold and I didn't want to just ride it out. He got better without meds within a week.

  Your pedi can listen to the cough over the phone too. Pertussis has a distinct sound to the cough. It's like cough cough, big wheezy inhale. My husband got freaked out by that commercial as well.

  I agree with this. DH and I had a viral infection last week and we eventually passed it to DD. She never had a fever and acted the same (minus the occasional fussy period some days), so we never called. Her stuffiness is mostly gone, and it's been about 5 days.

  Thanks everyone, I'm keeping an eye on him, he doesn't have a fever, just a little fussy and the cough/stuffy nose. I might call the doctor tomorrow morning just in case, but we'll just ride it out! poor baby.
