Okay mommas who have migraines. Are you getting some tension headaches too? Ugh, this is just the worst and the meds. just don't touch it. I had a Fiorcet earlier and it just didn't do anything. I remember having lots of headaches for a while after Gabe was born. I am just going to chock it up to my hormones. I do the Relpax too but it can only be taken 3 days a week. What are your other meds. or things you do? The latest research I have been reading really mentions exercise, exercise. I am going to join a gym soon and try to get more activity in!
Re: Mommas with migraines...tensions headaches too? booo!!
I don't have regular migraines (I think I've had 4 in my life) but actually just this month I had a really bad one, followed by about a week of what I think was tension headaches. I think it's definitely hormone related.
The main thing that helped was to try to constantly focus on releasing the tension in my shoulders and back, and apply a heating pad. I noticed how often I've been clenching up my shoulders (I think from stress). After a few days it suddenly felt like a giant knot released, and with it, my headache disappeared.
Hope you feel better soon!
[quote I was diagnosed with migraines in grade school. My mom and I were both put on a pirscription fit them (don't remember what) and it didn't help. We found Aleve actually worked better. My Dr said to take two and if that didn't help take a third. (the bottle says to take one and then a second if needed). Now when I feel a migraine coming on I just take 3 Aleve and it does the trick.
When I was pregnant and couldn't take Aleve the nurse said to take two Benadryl, two Tylenol, and drink a can of caffeinated pop and that also helped.
GL finding something that works, migraines suck!
I've been getting a ton of tension headaches as well as migraine flareups but in my cause I know it's sleep related. Caroline still only sleeps in 2-4 hour chunks and the stop, start, stop, start sleeping is taking a toll on me.
Another suggestion I've heard to help headaches is drink tons of water. Apparently it can all be linked to dehydration.
