I don't know how it's happening, but it seems like every morning, I step on the scale and have gained another pound. I'm up about 4 or 5 pounds from where I was when I got my BFP on March 11th, and I really don't know why. I'm hoping that some of it is due to my constipation/bloating, but that seems like an awful lot of weight to be completely due to that.
Because I did IVF, I couldn't work out for a little while, but over the last week, I've started walking 3 miles every other day and doing some pregnancy work out DVDs. I guess I should also probably start tracking what I'm eating better. I don't feel like I'm eating more than usual, but the weight is coming from somewhere! And at this rate, I'll be gaining WAY more than I want or need to!
I don't want to diet, but any other tips for keeping better control of my weight gain?

Re: Weight Gain
I wouldn't diet, just eat well, and stay active.
Your body is going to do what it needs too, and pack on what it needs. Let it do it's job

I learned last time that you could eat like a rabbit, and still gain whatever your body needed to. Not saying I ate like a rabbit, but the weeks/months where I did put in more of an effort to control what I ate, I still gained the same as the weeks when I ate whatever I wanted.
If you're super bloated and constipated right now though, I would bet that the weight gain is from that. If the food keeps going in, but isn't coming out, that's going to show up on the scale, kwim?
Yeah, I'm not planning on dieting, I guess I'm just freaking out a bit because I've seen so many friends get absolutely huge during pregnancy and then it's so hard for them to take it off once the baby is born. The thought of gaining 5 pounds in just a few weeks is pretty scary to me since the baby is only pea-sized right now!

I agree!
What you said about eating like a rabbit and gaining weight is interesting. Anyway, I REALLY hope you're right about the bloating and constipation bit. Going to try not to freak out too much, and just pay more attention to what I'm eating.

I know it's scary, but you body is going to do what it needs too. You may gain weight differently as well... You may gain more in 1st and 2nd tri, but it might slow down and even out over 3rd tri, know what I mean? It's hard to tell, everybody (and pregnancy) is soo different, it's hard to compair

I have the same problem. I'm 8 weeks and gained about 5 pounds. I'm really worried. My clothes are tight and I really don't want to start showing too early. I'm embarrassed for people to see me having gained so much cuz they don't know I'm pregnant. I wish I could exercise. I'm high risk because I had a miscarriage I guess. My doctor doesnt let me even go walking. I feel sick a lot and keep eating to make it go away and it works but it's definitely not helping my weight gain!
I need advice on how to slow down this weight gain myself! I hear you 100%
Yeah, and it really sucks when you read all of the women saying "oh, I've lost 5 pounds in first tri" and feel like a major fattie! For what it's worth, the weight gain has slowed down a lot in the past few weeks. In fact, I've actually lost a couple of pounds, I think just because my bloating and water retention has gone down a bit and I'm a little more regular nowadays. I think there's something to what all the girls were saying about your body gaining what it needs, because I really haven't changed my eating habits very much and I haven't been able to exercise as much as I've wanted to either.
