Hi everyone...first off I wanted to introduce myself since this is my first time posting on "the bump". I promise next time i'll bring cookies, when I figure out how this upload thing works. I was previous on "the knot" and got hitched Sept 4th of last year and have transitioned over in these parts. I am 27 and am an Occupational therapist and hubby is 28 and a pharmacist.
We bought a house about 3 years ago (a fixer upper) that my DH has been working on literally day in and day out. I had to get off birth control last october...I have been dealing with vulvar vestibulities and vaginismus for as long as I can remember. Basically I get pain down there, and sex was almost unbearable but after a lot of physical therapy, taking about every medication on the planet, and visiting about 500 zillion doctors (well maybe not that many!!) I am a TON better. I am pretty open about it at this point because I have always had to open up about it with the different doctors and kind of get over it being embarassing.
Luckily, I have the most amazing husband whom has always been by my side through everything. I recently have been seeing a specialist and wish I would have seen her sooner, but the first thing she did was get me off my BCP which she thinks may have been a cause of a lot of my symptoms. Actually, I can't take any hormones right now which meas no form of any BC hormones (of course, except condoms), which I was pretty upset about at first because I take them like clockwork, but have been feeling like a new person since getting off them--knock on wood.
DH and I really want to start trying this December because much of the house remodeling will be complete. I know I haven't been off BC pills for too long, but my cycle seems to be about 40-43 days on the dot. Is that normal? I have never been off of BCPs and am use to having a pretty "normal" cycle. I will see my specialist next Thurs. for a follow up but was just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks for listening to my long, drawn out story. I have been through a lot and am just so excited for the possiblility of becoming pregnant by early next year! Thanks!!
Re: Newbie here :)
You have a lot going on! As for your cycle, it can take a while for your body to reset to normal (3-6 months, usually). The general recommendation is to not get worried about it until you get to 60 days with no AF, and then go see a dr. I don't know anything about your other issues, so I don't know if they could be indicative of a bigger problem that could affect your cycle. Your Dr can answer that for you.
GL!
Welcome! I'm new here, too. Got married last July. I also stopped BC pills in October.
Your cycle length seems kind of long but the prior poster is correct about the 60 days thing. I know you said you've always been on BC, but did you have a year or two when you had just started your period and weren't on it yet? Do you remember how long your cycle was back then?
Our housing and financial situation are kind of up in the air right now so we haven't set a month to start TTC. I'd prefer sooner than later, but I've always been a planner and can't just try until we get things more settled.
Hi! Kind of a newbie here too! I wonder if we were on the same knot board cause I was married on September 10th.
I am going to agree with everything that was said above me just wanted to say hi and GL!
