It is on our short list for boys, but we probably will not use it since there is a city Hudson about 20 minutes away from us. Its a tiny little wealthy suburb, that we have no association with, so that might be a little weird.
If you're going to use it as a human's name, it is definitely for a boy. That being said, I don't like it for a first name or a human name at all...it reminds me of the body of water...

This is on our list because of Hudson Taylor... meaning it is a name with a little history behind it, not just a new trend of naming a baby after a river, city, etc.
November 2011: after nearly two years of infertility, we are moving on to domestic infant adoption.
February 2012: Matched!
May 2012: Placed with our son!
It's not awful, but it's definitely NMS. I don't like surnames as first names, and this name seems very trendy to me. If you use it as a first name, though, it is all boy as far as I'm concerned.
Agree that it just makes me think of bodies of water- Hudson Bay, Hudson River, etc.
Just don't pick it thinking it will be something unique and different, it is definitely an up and coming name. It's nms but there's nothing wrong with it.
Re: Hudson for a boy?
Meh...I'm not so into it. It reminds a lot of people of the river in New York, and I'm not so into LNs as FNs.
But it's far from terrible.
That's my friends last name, so I'd never use it. Also, it makes me think of Hudson Hawk.
But if you were to use it, it is at least masculine.
Love it !

Definitely keep it !
