babies on zantac/reflux meds - sleep issues?

We have been using zantac for a few weeks in our 7 week old which helps with the screaming and back arching but doesnt seem to help with the actual regurgitation - The last few nights all night i hear is him gagging on the spitup (we put him in anything inclined - bouncer, swing, carseat) but now hes not really sleeping for longer then 1-2 hours at a time because it wakes him up.   doctor said the reflux meds would just help with the pain but not the actual fluid.  anyone else experience this?  any tips?

    I know it did not work on DS we are now on Prilosec. But when we were on it they had to increase it because it is weight sensitive so maybe he has gained enough so it has stop working .

    DD just started on zantac and the doc said the same thing - would help with the acid pain but not the fluid coming up the esophagus. I HIGHLY recommend the rock n play. We borrowed one from a friend a few days ago and she has been sleeping 5 hours at a time at night.

    My son is also on Zantac for reflux. We have found that the nap nanny helps him sleep so much better because it has an incline.

    Our son has been on Zantac for about 2 weeks now and I haven't noticed a decrease in his spit ups but he doesn't seem as uncomfortable. He actually is sleeping long stretches as night, not shorter...

    My son has silent reflux so it is a little different but once we got his meds right he has been so much better. I did have a reflux friend that her doctor was more worried about aspiration than SIDS, so he had here sleep baby on tummy. I wouldn't do this without first talking to your doctor but with all the gagging I would definitely talk to him about it. They did a modified barium swallow with her baby.

    We had DS on Zantac but just switched to Prilosec today(and so far he's spitting up way more) the Zantac worked great for 3 nights he slept 7 hour stretches but after that back to crying in pain (hense the switch) but wondering if he just needed a higher dose of Zantac

    My baby full out vomited all over the place three times a day.  It was miserable.  Zantac didn't help much but Prevacid is helping with his discomfort and he is sleeping much better.  It did not cure the vomitting.  I think what helped that was slowing down his feedings (not letting him suck for more than 10 sucks in a row), trying to do smaller feedings a little more often, rice cereal in the bottles, and keeping him upright for a half hour after feeds.  And he sleeps in the RnP.  Now he only vomits about once every 3 days which is SO much better and he is gaining weight.
