Faint/dizziness in the shower?

I just took a shower and I was fine at first, waged my hair twice then went to wash out conditioner and all of a sudden felt so nauseous ten dizzy and I felt like I was gonna pass out! I had to run and lay down. my hearing was also kinda foggy. never had this happen before, definitely freaked out. anyone else experience this? I'm almost 16 weeks.  maybe my shower was too warm..

  • I would say the shower was too warm, I had that happen as well, I just make it a bit colder and it hasn't happened since. HTH

  • The shower shouldn't be warm enough to make you red. Try cooling it down and see if that helps.. Also if it happens again you may want someone in there.. for Me i had PRE _E and passed out, but sounds like it was more do to the warmth or the bathroom getting to hot, Maybe cool it down or consider leaving door open

  • I've done this my entire life and it's only gotten worse since being pregnant.  Don't take too hot baths/showers or you will feel awful for awhile.

  • That happened to me last weekend.  I had felt fine all morning, had worked out, cleaned, and then suddenly got super nausous in the shower and ended up jumping out real quick and throwing up.  I spent 15 minutes or so lying down and was back to normal and felt great the rest of the day.  I just chalked it up to morning sickness (I have not been experiencing this, but I don't see any reason why it can't pop up every now and then throughout the whole pregnancy).

  • I've had this happen too. I've had reduced or no symptoms by keeping the water in the shower a little cooler and by drinking a full glass of water before I shower. I figured it was due to heat and possible dehydration from not drinking water all through the night and then stepping into a hot shower first thing in the morning.
  • This happens to me almost every morning! I have tried to keep the door open, take cooler showers, eat a snack and drink some water before showering, but nothing seems to help! Plus, whatever I eat or drink before getting in gets immediately puked up when I get out of the shower :(

This.  Also, make sure you're not locking your knees.  This has happened to me my whole life and definitely has been worse since I've been pregnant.  I overheat and dehydrate very easily anytime the temperature is over 80 and I'm not hydrated to the point of popping.  It happens to my little sister, too.  She actually passed out, hit her head, and woke up in an ambulance.  Be safe!

  • This has happened to me and I think it's from standing up too long.  I sit down on the shower floor to wash my hair now so I won't get dizzy with my eyes closed.

Same thing happens to me at work, too.  I'm a massage therapist and occasionally during session I'll have to pull up a stool because I feel like I'm going to puke, pass out or both.

  • This has happened to me also, I tend to have some water to drink now or shower alittle later, I also find sitting in the shower helps as well as a cooler shower :)

  • This has happened me to me as well while in the shower. But the most recent time was while shopping at Target after a workout at the gym. I was standing in the check out line and knew what was about to happen. I could feel my head getting dizzy, my vision totally blurred, and I couldn't stand up. I had to sit down in the middle of the check out lane. All these customers and Target employees were talking to me, asking me if they should call 911, asking if I'm diabetic. I had such a hard time answering them, I said, "give me a minute to lay here (on the floor of Target) and I'll be fine." Wow was I embarrassed when I felt better. Everyone was very caring, needless to say I haven't been back to that particular Target.

Now I know I need to take it a lot easier during a workout and drink a lot more water. As well as bring someone shopping with me!

  • I don't really have anything new to contribute but that's been one of my most severe symptoms. I have a chair in the bathroom for me to get ready now. The doc told me it could be that I'm dehydrated from sleeping so I try to drink juice first thing to get my blood sugar up as well.I also tried showering at night which seems to have helped.

Good luck! Hopefully you'll figure out the right combo for you.  Smile
