I have 2 days in April where I'll be in seminars all day so I'll be leaving N with MH. I have no idea if the locations the seminars are in will have a place where I can pump - one is a high end restaurant and the other is a hotel. For the hotel, my office is across the street so I can always pop over there if necessary but for the restaurant I don't know what to do.
My question, will one day of not pumping for 7-8 hours mess up my supply? If I need to, I can go home over our lunch break but I'll definitely end up missing part of the seminar - it's too far a drive to make it home, feed N or pump and make it back.
Re: Pumpers - need help
After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1
TTC #2
Clomid 50 mg + IUI#1 = BFP, m/c and D&C at 7w1d
Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN
Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN
Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14
I've gone all day without pumping a few times (when I first returned to work when LO was 5 month, I kept forgetting various parts at home). I never saw any drop in supply. However you will be in pain and you will leak!
MPZ born June 2011
TTC #2 ... Cycle 1-3: IUI = BFN | Cycle 4: IVF ... canceled but 3 snow babies
Cycle 5: FET .. BFP! | EDD - 3/15/2014
I would call up the restaurant and ask to speak to whoever is in change of front of house. If it's a high end restaurant, I'm sure they accommodate unusual requests for customers all the time and this probably wouldn't even phase them. There has to be some small, private place in the building that they would let you use for 20 minutes.
Although I also think that it would not mess up your supply to go 7-8 hours without pumping for one day. I've had to do it twice since I came back to work, and it didn't make a noticeable difference to me.
I don't think one day will do permanent damage to your supply, but it won't be comfortable, you'll be engorged and possibly leak.
Call the hotel and the restaurant and talk to a manager and find out if they can accommodate you, they may have something available. I'd be shocked if the hotel doesn't have something, and if the restaurant doesn't, could just pump in your car? Even if it's just for 10 minutes, it will release that pressure!
Does you LO sleep through the night? If so, I'd imagine how full you are in the morning to decide if you're going to pump the day you have to be at the restaurant.
For me, I could get away with it and not really be in pain or leaking, so I'd just skip it. But, after getting home and feeding, I'd probably have to pump. As others have said, I don't think it will harm your supply.
If I was to skip pumping that day at the restaurant, I'd probably pump right before I left home... or I know some people swear by pumping while driving!
I went all day without pumping twice. It didn't effect my supply, but it was painful.
On days that I attended trainings, I just pumped in the car and stored the milk in a cooler. No problems.
Wow, sorry for that post and run! Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely call both places and see what they might be able to do for me. I'm not worried about the hotel since my office is right there but it would be more convenient to not have to leave so hopefully they'll have a room I can borrow.
Pumping in my car might work - the only snag I can see is that it's valet parking so I'd have to work that out. But hopefully I won't have to resort to that and they have somewhere for me.
Good to know though that my supply should be fine. Thanks again!
