rocking in highchair?

anyone else dealing with this? Mealtimes are so hard now. I try to tell her not to rock in her high chair and then I end up taking her out of it like a million times during the meal. I don't know if it's just because she's so active now, but it's hard to get her to slow down to eat.

She never does it when we are at a restaurant though and usually not if she is just with her dad, only at home, always for me. I don't want her to hurt herself rocking in the high chair like that and it's really annoying.

Re: rocking in highchair?

  • My DS does this....if I remember correctly DS#1 did as well....it's just a phase....he likes it....I don't worry too much because it's a soft padded highchair.

  • I thought DS was the only crazy one doing this! Like PP said, never at a restaurant and never for DH!!! And as with anything else, everytime I say "no" he gets a kick out it! It kinda worries me because it's a space saver and he rocks (sorta) the chair too! I hope this phase doesn't last!

  • "No" and/or shaking my head are the funniest things I can say/do for my DD.  I'm in trouble!

  • My DS did this for about a month a couple of months ago.  He doesn't really do it anymore.  When he would do that, I would gently put my hand on his chest and say "no, we don't do that".  Then he would smile his cheesy smile and continue rocking.  :)  After that, whenever he rocked in the chair, I strapped him in (I don't normally as I'm sitting right there with him the whole time).  Once strapped in, he would sulk for a few minutes, maybe rock just his head for a minute, but then he would stop completely because it wasn't as much fun.

  • Yep!  DD does this too, so hard sometimes I'm worried she's going to tip the chair over.  I figured it was just a phase.
