PUPPS

Ughhh. Went to the dr the other day and TA DA. I have PUPPS. It's so irritating! I can't find anything that gives me long term relief. I've tried topical benedryl and oatmeal bathes and no good. Anyone have any tips?

Re: PUPPS

  • I'm a lurker... but I had PUPPS with my first child.  It was awful, it didn't reach my neck or face (thankfully!), but I was so itchy on the trunk of my body and arms.  I seen my regular dr and OB and they both - old school men - said its just an allergy and to use topical anti-itch cream and try to track what i ate.  By day 3 it was so itchy and had made my semi-stretch marks into a ring of deep purple and red that looks like a hurricane!  So I googled pregnancy allergies and came across description for PUPPS, I ended up going to the ER and they gave me a shot of Benadryl-type med and it stopped it from spreading and it cleared up within 2-4 days later.  Good luck, please see your dr soon before it gets worse! Also, not all drs know about it, so it wouldn't hurt to print out the description and bring with you.

I had a severe PUPPPs rash with my DS. It was so awful, and got even worse after my c/s. Thank goodness for Percoset is all I have to say about the the rash spreading all over my body.

Before my surgery, it was just on my belly and I used Sarna lotion. I don't know if it is offered everywhere, but I found it at both Walgreens and my hospital pharmacy. It is amazing stuff. GL! I am so sorry you have to go through this!

  • Luckily I had my OB appt this past week (I'd had PUPPS for a week already at that point) and she knew what it was and told me that if it didn't clear up in another week (week 2 just ended) that I'd have to call to get a steroid shot to get rid of it.

When it started it just looked like mosquito bites, but now I can't even wear regular clothing because if the fabric touches my skin it inflames the rash and makes it go crazy. I have a weak immune system, so it's already covered my entire body head to toe; but I REALLY don't want to get a steroid shot if I don't need to because as far as I've been told and read, it's totally harmless to the baby and I. I just need some RELIEF!
