Pregnant after IF

Ugh, these effing betas. Need some help pls.

OK so they are slowing down and aren't doubling every 48.

They were drawn at 14, 16 and 18DPO.

1st beta on 3/26 was 328

48 hours later it was 650

48 hours after that, is 1114.

WTF.  Why is it slowing?   I don't go back until Wednesday for an ultrasound so this is going to torture me for 5 more days.  UGH.

Any experiences like this out there that turned out good?

  • First of all, betas do slow down in the rate of increase after a certain level (there was a post addressing this the other day). Secondly, betas don't need to double every 48 hours, it's more like 72 hours. Your doctor should actually be looking for at least a 67% increase over the 48 hours. So, don't freak out, your numbers looks great!

  • Your numbers look great to me too! It is true that as the betas get higher, the multiplying rate goes down, so yours are right on schedule.

  • My betas never doubled in 48 hours. My nurse specifically told me to ignore the Internet, because they only wanted a 60% rise in 48 hours. So, your numbers look good to me!

  • These are good numbers!!  Doubling every 48 hours is just a rough guide, probably b/c it's easiest to calculate.  Check out betabase.info and you'll see there is a wide range of acceptable doubling times.
