Hello Ladies! I'm due to have my first little one on October 14th. I'm 11 weeks and 4 days pregnant right now. M/S has kicked in full force as of about 6 weeks and this week by far is proving the worst. I finally had to break down and ask the doc if there was anything I could take that would be safe. She prescribed me Zofran. It kinda tastes like a butter mint, which isn't bad. But I'm wondering, are any of you taking this as well? What's your opinion on it?
Re: Zofran anyone?
I took it for about two weeks before it started to not work for me for some strange reason. When it did work, it worked very well! Although, I was a bit constipated. I am now on Promethazine, and it works well, but not as well as the Zofran did. I'm not as constipated though. My Zofran tasted like strawberries (or were supposed to).
I'm a bit new - what does DD stand for? I just took the first pill about 3 1/2 hours ago. I do feel a difference but feel so tired now. And my eyes still are kinda sore. Not as bad as they were. I have a hard time with the hydration thing too. I was trying to replenish my electrolytes with Gatorade for a while. But when I get super sick like today it's tough eating or drinking. I think I must have slept most the day. I was looking up the drug today and noticed that it's used for HG. Didn't know that actually existed till today but wasn't all that surprised when I had a lot of the symptoms.
How long did it take for you guys to start to feel a real difference with Zofran? Was it right away or did it take a couple days?
DD is dear/darling daughter. If you look at the all of the links on the left, near the bottom is a bump glossary to help with the lingo. Zofran is used with morning sickness, HG ( like I have ), before surgery and chemo. With DD I lost 18 lbs during first tri, I was loosing this time as well. Both times I've needed IVs as well. But for now the high doses of both Zofran and Phenegran are working well. Hopefully you will find relief as well. You may want to check out Helpher.org, it's a great site about HG.
I have had it since week 7.5 and it's been a life saver- don't know what I'd do without it, seriously.
Do yourself a favor, and I mean, right now- Go out and get yourself some Colace and Benefiber.... like, asap.
GL!
Thank you! Didn't see that glossary link. And I'm definitely going to check out that link. Today is the first day I've woken up and didn't feel super sick. I was even able to walk in the kitchen without puking. Such a huge difference!
Wait, hold up.. your Zofran is flavored? Are you on the liquid, or should I have been chewing or dissolving these in my mouth rather than swallowing them whole?
My prescription lable just says "Take every 6 hours as needed"
Yeah, my Zofran is flavored. They are dissolving pills. I leave it on my tongue and they dissolve real quick. Mine tastes like butter mints. I think there was another post on here that someone said theirs was strawberry flavored. You can get the flavored liquid too. Read your pill bottle or ask your doctor about if yours dissolves or not. If it does, you should taste the flavor when you first put it in your mouth.
hi there,
I've been on zofran since week 7. I too was horrendously sick and couldn't move without feeling close to death. I take one as soon as I wake up in the morning before I even dare get out of bed. I wait 10-15 minutes and then have a snack. If I take it on a full stomach or with anything in my stomach it doesn't work for me. Otherwise, it has been the biggest god send ever. I was taking it every 6 hours for the first 2 or 3 weeks, now I'm down to just in the morning. It has worked wonders for me! Beware of the constipation though, mine's been horrendous!
Best of luck to you and your little one!
