I have a chocolate lab and through put this pregnancy he has became soo much more close to me! Its almost like he knows he's about to not be the center of attention or something:) has it been this way for anyone else?
I have a shiba. She's always been more attached to me than DH.
Since I've been pregnant, she follows me around and watches me alot- not like she's worried, just that she knows something's different and is curious/watchful about it. We probably give off some kind of pheromone that they respond to.
Just wait til baby gets here! I have a yellow and a black lab and they became super protective after DD arrived! Now when I walk them, they go crazy if anyone comes close! Not in a mean way, just protective!
Oh yes, we have a male Weimaraner that licks my stomach any chance he gets - and he's not supposed to be on the bed, but will jump up on it in the morning and lay his head on my belly. He is constantly laying on me feet, and if you ask him where the baby is, he goes and looks in the nursery.
We also have a female Austrailian Shepherd that has gotten very protective of me, and won't leave my side - DH likes to say she's "up my a$$." She gets snappy at the Weim (she's 8, he's 3) when he gets too bouncy around me, because they know they aren't supposed to be jumping, and when the Aussie gets too excited the Weim will flea bite her to calm her down.
Our OB warned us about them getting overly protective/agressive when we got pregnant, but so far, they're thankfully just being protective. My 12 year old Siamese, however, started to go crazy and bit me pretty badly on Sunday, and we had to have her put down on Tuesday I'm heartbroken... I've had her since highschool and she was my love!
Our puppy (not really a puppy anymore as she now weighs 85lbs) has become extra gentle with me in the last few weeks. She is usually super hyper and all over the place but lately instead of jumping to greet me so waits patiently for me to pet her and waits for me to walk slowly down the stairs before she'll rush down behind me. She also loves to lay on the couch with me and put her ear up against my stomach, like she's listening for the baby. Our cat has also been very attentive since my belly has "popped" out.
Both of my fur babies, female great dane and a male great bernese have been acting very protective. In the first trimester my dane stayed away from me, almost as if she was unsure of something. Since then they both have had problems with their kennels, she developed some separation anxiety and he wanted to be in her kennel and not his. As of today all seems to be back to normal, and they follow me around like an entourage all day.
My husband and I own a day care for dogs, and I would say about half of them have changed the way they act around me. It is a very surreal thing. Some will not allow others to jump on me, and watch my every move. Some are oblivious about it. It's very interesting!

My dogs and cats have been even MORE attached to me lately. It's super cute.
My dachsund likes to sit on my lap, and the baby always kicks. I swear he likes the sensation, because I know he can feel it! hehe
