I just got back from signing E up for daycare, and was telling my mom I wanted to cry over him having to go. So she tells me well it is about time you get out in the real world and start actually acting like an adult. You have just been home playing mom for so long and have no clue what the real world is like.
I want to cry. I work hard here and try to give these kids the best. We pay our bills, and give the kids a good life. I didn't realize she never took me seriously. My heart just hurts now.

She is suppose to keep the kids tomorow so I can finish getting the house ready for sunday. I don't even want to send them.
I'm so over it. All she does is talk down to me. The worst part is that I let her. And I'm sick of it.
((hugs))
Thats a really shiiiitty thing to say. I'm sorry. You deserve so much better than that.
The REAL world?!? WTF? The one in which you actually get to get dressed and leave the house and get to talk to adults all day? The one where you don't get puked on, peed on, talked back to or screamed at? The one where you don't wait on children hand and foot and get nothing in return?
Being a SAHM is not a piece of cake. It's about as "real world" as you get. I'm sorry your mom doesn't get that.
She sounds like my FIL. I'm sorry =[ Family put-downs are the worst.
Also, I agree with pps
To which I'd reply, "You don't like my world? Then you don't have to be a part of it."
I have no patience for unsupportive family members. I'm so sorry she's treating you like that.
I'm guessing she wasn't a stay at home mom?
So sorry. She is totally wrong. Our society is too wrapped up in work and money.
You are a wonderful mother. And "play or work" it's the most important thing there is.
I would be very reticent to let her be around the kids after comments like that.
