I'm feeling kind of alone right now. Neither the pedi or the OT is seemingly helping at all with this.
We started L on solid foods (stage 1) probably about a month ago, and we are looking to move up to stage 2, but i'm not sure exactly what i'm looking for. The Pedi is no help cause she's not too sure where she should be because it's not clear if i should be following her adjusted or actual age.
[I should put here that the pedi has been following her actual age for a while because she caught up in size rather quickly. And her physical development is all over the map... hasn't rolled over yet, but is sitting up with no assistance etc.]
I was just sort of winging the start of solids too. And that seemed to work out well. Maybe i should just wing this too and hope it works out well too.
Re: Moving up with food
We started stage 1 fruits/veggies at 5 months actual (4 adj). At our 6 month well-child visit our ped told us we could move to stage 2 foods as long as nothing had chunks in it. So far I've found the consistency of the foods between the two stages to be exactly the same, there is just a lot more variety and they start combining ingredients in stage 2. If your LO has tried all the stage 1 foods with no problems and your ped isn't telling you not to, then I would say go for it! Maybe you can start with some of the simpler varieties that only add one new ingredient from the first stage (ex. apples & apricots or blueberry banana). Good luck!
Edited to add: I just noticed our LO's are only a day apart in age!
This! We just jumped right in once we ran a couple of cycles through the stage 1. Getting to finger foods has proven much more difficult!
